[NEW STUFF] LEGO City

Though we don't cover them in detail on FBTB, we all still love our Castle, Pirates, and Space LEGO too.

This set is not new to this year, and it seems to me that it's been produced for a while
(almost as long as that 6 stud wide fire engine that's still around).
It's a great set, excellent design. I believe TRU has a $2 markup on this.

[NEW STUFF] 8403 Family House

Postby Draykov » Mon May 24, 2010 12:06 pm

New images for 8403 over at Eurobricks.

While I much prefer the design of the Creator houses to this facade stuff, it's nice to see LEGO getting back to some semblance of their City roots.

It looks pretty neat, however it looks a bit small. Also, is that hot dog a new piece?

No, the hot dog has been around since 1998.

I'd like to see the interior view as well. I've had this idea for a couple of months that LEGO needs to put out some sets with really cool interiors like a geeked out home theater living room, nice home library, a modern kitchen, etc. They rarely do the insides unless you buy the high end sets like Grand Emporium. I really like the new Apple Tree House and Family Home sets but there's no interior to play with.

I agree that the Creator houses look MUCH nicer than this, so the quality of the interior is really what would be the only selling point for me. I, too, would like to see a view of the interior.

I personally love the touch of Solar Panels on the roof. And I will agree that seeing the inside would be a big seller for alot of people.

Hmm, yes, this is getting back to the roots of the traditional LEGO Town. Small, goofy, and dollhouse-styled. It's encouraging to see LEGO get back to basics. Small sets like this and that bus stop make a nice junior complement to the massive modular houses like the Emporium.

Price is the only real question. 33 Euros? Let's hope for $30 US.

That's the nicest TRU I've seen. They need to throw the toys all over the floor, then it would be more believable.

Klaus-Dieter over at Eurobricks is spilling beans...

Klaus-Dieter wrote:Hello everybody! :classic:

Sometimes you only have to have much luck. And today I had that much luck since I was allowed to look into the retailer’s catalogue for the first half of 2011.
There even the new City sets were pictured.
I of course thought that you do not want to hear what’s new – but I tell you nevetheless!

Please be aware that I had no chance to take any notes or pics – so there might even be some mistakes.
In order to that you can get a better feeling about how big the sets are, I added my supposed price to them.
Note: I wasn’t aible to get any price information. And I didn’t make a mental note oft he set numbers. Plus I do not remember the real set names. So please don’t ask for them.

Firstly the bad news: There won’t be a zoo theme, there won’t be any civilian sets and there won’t be any Farm sets in the first half of the year. :sadnew: And there won’t be any riot police things, a police tank, a bank robbery set and/or weappons for the policemen.

Now the good news: Apart from the new Police subtheme (which was very likely) we’ll see a new Space subtheme within the City theme. And nearly all sets of these two themes look absolutely amazing and very classical!

POLICE

The new Police theme looks all in all very similar to the last one from 2008 – but much better!
And there’ll be a new blue torso for a police officer with violet cravat. The main colors of the theme are white-blue-black.

Big Police Station (? 90-100 Euros)
-baseplates like in 7744
-big baseplate with two garages with roller gates and prison cells above
-small baseplate with two or three floors big police office building mainly with windows (regrettably wasn’t aible to detect the interior)
-small police car and bigger police car (similar to the ones in 7744), one with car doors
-prisoner, new policeman, two policemen, ? additional policemen

Police Mobile Command Center (? 40 Euros)
-police mobile command center (similar to 7743) with car doors (but without additional building and without quad bike)
-red cabriolet
-new policeman, policeman, prisoner, ? additional policeman

Prison Van (? 20 Euros)
-prison van (similar to 7245) but much longer, with car doors and a much bigger floodlight on top
-prisoner, policeman

Police Dog’s Car (? 10 Euros)
-police dog’s car
-dog, policeman

Police Quad Bike Chase (? 9-13 Euros)
-police quad bike (similar to the one in 7743)
-automat (? automatic teller)
-policeman, prisoner, ? another prisoner and/or female civilian

Police Boat (? 30 Euros)
-police boat (looks a bit luniorized)
-very small red motor boat
-police officer, prisoner, ? additional police officer

SPACE [TOWN]

It’s great to see a return of the Space theme – esp. since I never would have thought that it’ll ever come back! The new Space sets are as great as the ones from the mid-ninetees and 2000!
It looks like TLG will use the Space torsos from 10213 – but since the pics were preliminary they even might change the torsos. The main colors of theme are white-red.

Space Launch Pad (? 70 Euros)
-baseplate with small „tower“ (I do not remember that there is any possibility that minifigs can climb on it – only some sort of framework
-small control station
-big rocket (not space shuttle!)
-maintenace vehicle
-officer, mechanic, spaceman

Space Shuttle(? 30-40 Euros)
-space shuttle
-solar panels with telescope/satellite
-spaceman, ? additional spaceman

Small Space Launch Pad (?20 Euros)
-huge van
-small rocket with launch pad (supposably for tests)
-mechanic

Space Maintenance Vehicle /Moon Vehicle (? 3-10 Euros)
-? space mentainance vehicle or moon vehicle
-? spaceman and/or mechanic

All in all I must say that all these new City sets – apart from the Police Dog’s Car and maybe the Police Boat – look absolutely amazing!

So I can’t wait for more pics, reviews and perhaps even buying the one or the other set.

Let the discussion begin! :classic:
