[NEW STUFF] Power Miners

Though we don't cover them in detail on FBTB, we all still love our Castle, Pirates, and Space LEGO too.

The name Firax sounds pretty similar to Firox, doesn't it?

Yeah, they are completely different. I mean one is a weapon/tool, and the other is an animal......geez, not sure how they could be similar.....

Is this by chance going to make over here in the States? I read that it got some nagative reviews, but I don't know, it looks pretty cool to me. I wouldn't mind modding it alittle bit, could be pretty awesome I think. Though I really don't like those types of rock monsters.

it is in the states. it's available at shop@home, and it is a target exclusive. in fact, this week's target flyer has a $5 off coupon for the cave crusher and the pirate tank and the other stuff that the web coupon was good for.

I don't. They look like rock monsters on drugs.

If they were on drugs, they wouldn't change color. If WE were on drugs, THEN they'd be changing colors.

They don't look any different except for the poopy colors LEGO made them. I don't know why they had to turn everything molten...

More new revelations courtesy of Amazon.jp and Eurobricks: 8190 Claw Catcher and 8191 Monster Jail (the latter, I'm pretty sure, has been making appearances at toy shows).

Amazon seems to be the number 1 in leaking out lego set pictures now worldwide.. i'm sure lego isn't too happy about it though.

and they're putting the rock monsters in jail because..... they were in the way?

the jingoistic (thanks for the 10 dollar word ryan) theme has got to stop. i understand lego's use of conflict resolution as a play method for a boys toy, but it's really sending out the wrong message. if power miners continues, i'd like to see more sets focused on power miners to fight back, and then eventually come to a resolution with the invaders. james cameron's avatar should be lego's next license since it's essentially the same story, amirite?

yeah i know, pigs will fly, but eh, what are you gonna do.

The poor little Rock Monsters...
What have they done, that they need to be held as prisoners?

I'm new to FBTB so pardon my no agreeing with the majority in the post.

I happen to like these new rock monsters. In fact I look forward to a lava king ala the crystal king. I've enjoyed the Power Miners line for a couple of months now ever since I saw my nephew get some for his birthday in the summer. I wished I'd have bought into the line sooner as I missed out on the TRU and Target exclusives.

I look forward to these new sets, in fact already buying two of them.

Power MIners is just a fun sub-line. It's not tied into any of the major themed (licensed) lines, so LEGO can take any liberties they want with this. I'm all for that. It allows for creativity. It may be hit or miss and that's fine. If it's not for you, no problem. I personally like the sets and will continue to buy into this sub-line.

Oh and while I'm new as a poster, I've visited the site many times over the years. Some really great MOC stuff here.

I SO missed out on this set. Now I'm trying desperately to find it for no more than retail. I wish it were still available at Target. Really nice looking set.

I have this set and the new mech set. Loving both and the mech set can be rebuilt into some really cool customs. I'll have to snap some pics and post them.

Jargon wrote:I like this a lot! The blue fits in this set alright, unlike the stupid looking base set.
I really like the silver armor! The rock monster redesign is meh, but not bad.

I like the addition of more blue bricks with this. Goes along with the normal minifig colors for this sub-line. Not sure if I'm sold on the silver parts for the minifigs yet. I understand why though. I'm totally digging the new rock monsters. They mutated to better battle the miners!

Welcome aboard, Sal. No pardon required. With the exception of the occasional hot-headed goober, most folks here are reasonable and understand that we need not all agree on everything. That's actually what generates some of our most interesting discussion. :)
