[NEW STUFF] City/Exclusive: 10199 Winter Toy Shop

Though we don't cover them in detail on FBTB, we all still love our Castle, Pirates, and Space LEGO too.

In the bottom right corner is that a white 1x1 round piece for the snowball in the little kid's hand? And also, is that an African-American kid? We don't get those heads often.

I love how about half of this thread was taken up with an argument about the snowman.

Did anyone check out Ebenezer Scrooge in the front, there? Ha, ha. No, I know it isn't him, but it wouldn't take much modding... I think I'll pass on this one, because it's great for Christmas, but kind of useless throughout the rest of the year. For $60, I'd just as soon get one of those sunshine yellow Y-wings...

I don't know if these are Americans...so I think all you can call him would be black. Though all of them look yellow to me.

Is it a scarf or did LEGO actually include a black person? If they did, I won't only have a weird Clone Wars Mace Windu when I get it!

Looks like a red bandana and yellow head to me. Flesh colored heads (dark or light) are not typically found outside of licensed themes.

Some new pics up on Eurobricks. Apparently this set is officially known as the "Winter Toy Shop."

Ooohh! Carol singers with rosy cheeks! (but the girl's outfit is a bit too "goth" for my liking)

And the box art (Pic 1) mentions a "Light brick" as yet another component in the Power Functions range. I wonder how it differs from the current 8870 PF Light...

The house and decorated tree are fantastic. They make you wish it were Christmas right now. (Not that I do because I'm just starting to enjoy summer...) The cross-country skiiers are okay but I'd rather have more carolers or other holiday specific figs. You gotta admit the carolers' faces are a nice bonus.

I don't have a problem with the snowman. He's minifig scale and is easily recognized as a snowman. When I make snowmen in the winter, they look like three giant balls of snow piled on top of each other, not Michaelangelo's "David" or Rodin's "Thinking Man."

It looks like one of these:

Which has so far only appeared once, in the Agents Mobile Command Somesuch. There is another version of the brick with a red cover, which has appeared in several sets. They come with a battery already installed, and light up when a button on the side is pushed.

This will be so much fun to build, take apart, and rebuild each Christmas! Does anyone know when it's supposed to be released??

The smart money would be Thanksgiving-ish. I thought that Lego used to release everything in one of two annual waves, but it seems they've learned to phase some things between major waves. Could be as early as September, but I doubt it.

As a proud owner of the LEGO Holiday Train, this is a must-buy for me. It will go very well next to the train this year.

Sounds like a decent price, but, unfortunately I'm not seeing it on S&H.

£39.15 in the UK so I'll definitely be getting this. I love these slightly unusual sets.

I just ordered mine, I can't believe it was only $60! I was thinking more along the lines of $80 seeing how it is over 800 pieces. Will definitely be building this Thanksgiving day!

Got one yesterday - they are in the Milton Keynes Brand Store in the UK, so I'm assuming they are also in the Bluewater & Brighton stores as well :-)

Ill be checking my local lego store this weekend for one or two. This looks like a fun xmas deco, now only if lego build a nativity set I could replace my playmobil one. XD
