Favicon?

Postby Lord T » Tue Feb 10, 2009 9:25 am

I realise that this is a very minor suggestion but I do believe the site would benefit from a specialised favicon. I just find they add a touch of spice to the visual side of things.

Apologies if this is too small a suggestion to warrant a thread.

For the inexperienced, what is a Favicon?

It's the little image in the address bar.

I reckon the old one would be perfectly serviceable, if a bit nuked. :P

It's the little image at the beginning of the URL bar, or on the left hand side of a tab. Lots of sites have them now. For the record, I think it'd be cool if we had one too.

On fbtbforums.net we had a blue and a red lightsaber crossing each other.

Ah, makes sense.

If we do get a new one, I would personally prefer a new design to compliment the new look forum/site.

Thanks for suggesting this, I always seem to want it added. My Firefox link bar is jammed.

Wait, I've never seen that favicon on the Address bar before. Would the fact that I use IE instead of FireFox be the reason?

Is there a way to have the new one work one IE too? For some reason, I love it when websites have those, and it helps me find them in my favorites page quicker. Just wondering.

Somebody would need to convert it into the Microsoft icon format (.ICO) and then place it in the root directory (ie. http://www.fbtb.net/favicon.ico).

It's one of those lovely web things that was completely screwed from day one. There is even a Wikipedia article explaining it all.
