Question about showing online members

Postby Galagoo » Sun Jun 14, 2009 1:09 am

Sorry about the crappy title, I couldn't make up a better one.

Recently I noticed a little thing. On the bottom of the index page, I can't anymore see the information about who members are online, when were most members online etc.

Can someone still see them? Is this a bug I'm suffering from, some issue of my profile settings, or has the information really been removed? If the latter, for what reasons?

Answers would be appreciated.

Ace recently removed this feature. I think he intended to explain why, but we've been caught up in preparations for SW Weekend at Legoland California.

I personally miss that feature; it was fun to see who else were online. Oddly enough, being unable to see them makes me feel rather lonely. :p

Matter of getting accustomed, I guess..

In chat the other day, when the changes were happening, he said he was getting rid of some features that weren't needed to help, lower the server load.

That's what I thought. But I guess if it helps with server overload problems, then it should be done because it isn't vital to the forum.

They also don't have the blue ribbon by your name saying your online.

Like Galagoo said, it feels lonely. It's like walking in a graveyard with ghosts, I know you're here but I can't see you. :(

Why don't you log into Chat then?

For me it's because of two reasons. Recently I've been made just quick visits here, and logging into chat for only few minutes doesn't really seem practical.

In addition, a while back the chat didn't work at all for some time for me, and I was too lazy and busy to do anything for that. It works fine now, though..

I have to admit, I'm still not used to there being no "Who's online." It used to be like walking into a bar and you see all the people you know in the crowd. Now it's like walking in with a blindfold on and shouting, "Marco!"

Same here.
It was a nice feature, I liked to look who is online.
I miss it.

Like that the online status is back. "Where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came..."
