Problem on the old forums

Postby Flynn » Wed May 27, 2009 12:50 pm

I was searching around on the old FBTBforums, and I noticed that you still have to be logged in to look at certain parts of the forum. I know this was done to encourage people to join the forums, but since no one can actually register on the old forums now, and since those are there for archiving, wouldn't it be better to change it so that those forums are visible to non-registered users?

It is for those of us not registered on the old forums.

The only sections you can't see when not logged on are The Trial of Don Solo, The Jury Room, and the Suggestions section. Everything else is visible. The stuff not visible is fine being that way, because the trial was a community thing at the time, and if you weren't part of the community at the time, you really don't need to know about it. The Suggestions section really isn't needed to be public either, because it was suggestions for the old forum, not this one.

You're right, actually, although Ask LEGO is also hidden. I guess it's really not that big of a problem, although I thought there were more forums that were hidden...

Ask LEGO is not hidden, look again. It's at the bottom of the Main Focus section.

The old forum is as it should be. There are 37 subforums on the old board, maybe, and you can only see exactly what's meant to be seen.

Click on it while you're logged off and you'll see.

I wouldn't mind making everything except the trashcan public. I don't see the harm.

Flynn speaks the truth. That's not supposed to be hidden locked like that. I'll poke Ace or Ry next time I catch them online and see if they can fix that, since they took away my admin privs over there. :p

Even our erotic fanart subforum? Do you think they're ready for that?

You don't need to log on to see a count of onions' posts. The nasty surprise is that this count obviously does not include posts in the hidden sections! >:)

Another surprise (for me) is that the winning answer is 974 posts. Even when I log on to www.fbtbforums.net and search for posts authored by onions I only get 698 matches. :O (When I'm not logged on I get 617 matches, which I assume is how Andi got her answer.)

Edit: D'oh! Would need to be an admin to see the correct number.
