This was my second time in Yellowstone... all the geological features are pretty cool but my biggest recommendation is to find some time to hike on one of the non-feature trails. Once you're about a quarter mile from a parking lot or road it's amazing how far away the crowds suddenly seem.
Unless fishing is on your itinerary, I'd recommend spending as little time on the lower loop (lake, Old Faithful area) as possible -- it's waaay more touristy and way more congested. Definitely hit the Upper and Lower falls though (that's where all my waterfall shots came from). Mammoth Hot Springs is a bit dried up right now, unfortunately, but there's still a lot of good stuff to see.
