Iron Man 2 will be out next year, and the geeks of the universe are united in their excitement. Robert Downey Jr will reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man, with Gwyneth Paltrow back as Pepper Potts, Mickey Rourke as Whiplash, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff, Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer and Don Cheadle replacing Terence Howard as James Rhodes/War Machine. Personally, I can't wait for this film, and the new stills look amazing! It is nigh impossible to find the footage screened at the San Diego Comic Con because of their tight security measures against it being filmed, but do check these out:

My knowledge of the Iron Man universe is pretty much limited to what was in the first movie (which was good), so perhaps some of you experts can enlighten me. Which of the characters are "good guys/gals" and which are "bad guys/gals" (other than Iron Man, obviously)?

I generally try not to get to excited about movies that are a year off, so I'm going to try to avoid the hype for now. Sometimes I think people get to caught up in the future and forget to live in the now. I'm sure it'll be good when it comes out, but until then, I'll concern myself with other things.

The new trailer is an epic win. The last shot with Iron Man and War Machine is the first time in a while I've involuntarily blurted out "SWEET!!!!" while watching a movie trailer.

The new Whiplash actually looks WORSE; they're bringing him into the comics, too, and it's laughably bad. Need I remind you that comic book art design and film costume design are two VERY separate entities? That's why the X-Men wore black leather instead of their comic book costumes. Mickey Rourke's a great actor, but he's going to have to push it to the limit to pull off the weird Crimson Dynamo/Whiplash hybrid in the film.

(Ironically, the original Whiplash in the comics had an interesting part in the incredible "Mask in the Iron Man" storyarc. I suggest you read it!)
