OK. I still don't get at all what a 1:1 scale Gundam has to do with environmentalism, but who the frak cares? IT'S A GORRAM 60 FOOT TALL ROBOT STATUE THAT'S SO DETAILED IT LOOKS LIKE IT WALK AWAY AND GO BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF GODZILLA. You don't have to like anime to like this, and it you don't like it, I don't like you.

Seriously, what's with the Japanese and their obsession with robots? Is their ultimate goal to make an army of robots this size that are functional and can enslave the rest of the world? Are they really scared of Godzilla coming out of the water and attacking their cities?

As for what this has to do with environmentalism: You'd better go green or they'll sick this thing on your bee-hind. You know, I would have thought the threat of Al Gore releasing another movie was incentive enough, but what do I know.


....wait, I got it. Al Gore commissioned the Japanese to build this for him to use in his battle against Man-Bear-Pig. I knew there was a logical explanation.

I love that Japan is nerdy to the point of incorporating it into their governmental infrastructure. I mean where else are you gonna see guys in hard-hats setting up a 1/1 scale Gundam?

It was actually, if I remember correctly, Sunrise entertainment and Bandai who put this up. It was built in commemoration of Mobile Suit Gundam's 30th anniversary.

So far the head moves, steam (or mist) comes out the vents, and it makes noises. And it lights up pretty flamboyantly at night.
