What do you think of Lego's use of exclamation marks!

Postby jonutah » Fri May 31, 2013 10:30 am

Don't know if this has ever come up in this forum, but I find it kind of funny the way Lego uses exclamation marks to highlight the mundane:

"Submarine measures over 1" high and 3" long and 2" wide!"
"Includes 2 minifigures!"
"Includes Lego bricks!" (okay, I made that one up)

I just wonder if kids really get psyched up about a submarine that is 1" high, 3" long, and 2" wide. I know I'd be a little disappointed if my kids went "wow, a 1" high, 3" long, 2" wide submarine - that's awesome!"

Most kids these days don't even know what " means until they ask a parent. However ! will get anyone excited.

The worse example I've noticed is:

"Features flick-fire missles!"

I know it will disappoint people to read this:

But I completely miss the old lego catalogues, with no words at all, but just a bunch of imaginative goodness that you could stare at for weeks.....
