Brickshelf Closed?

Does anyone know if brickshelf is down or closed? The site seems to have 0 files. I looked over on lugnet.com, but I see no stories on this. I hope Kevin did not close the site for good.

The first thing I did when I noticed BS was having issues was check my signature (which is hosted on Brickshelf). It appears to still be working, so perhaps the website's just having a glitch...?

Yes, I was going to say just that--deeplinks are still working.

The front page says there are 2 million some-odd files in zero folders, leading me to speculate that the user interface has simple been disabled.

This appears to have happened only this afternoon, and there's fewer posts on the LUGNET forums about it than in this thread. (The owner of BrickShelf only posts on LUGNET. That's how it was last time, right?)

The change is one of two things: Brickshelf is FINALLY making the transition to a pay site, or it is going offline for good. We should be prepared for both.

^ Same here. I was a vocal opponent of Flickr a year or two ago (slow speed, hard to use, etc.) but since I've really gotten into using it the only thing I go to BS for now is straight-up image storage; I don't even look through it for new MOCs. If this is another "pulled the plug because the world doesn't deserve BS" stunt, I honestly don't think I'd care much.

I'm somewhat annoyed, but not too much. Last time Brickshelf crashed they released a program thing to download folders incase it was taken down permanently. So I have my own folders (I kept none of the pictures and fewer models) and a fair few other users.
If it goes back up I'll download a few more maybe, then take better pictures of the models I still have, and then hope that more brickshelf users start using Flickr.

Yep. I just tried a few galeries, and all the files seemed to be empty (even my own files).
