I believe it says :

If it's not on the list, it ain't allowed

So I guess there's no need to ask about JPIII, Vestas and such anymore? :)

Really? Have you read the rest of this thread?

I mean come on guys, it's really not that hard. How much clarification do you guys need? Or are you just trying to destroy any amount of patience Ace has?

Ace wrote:- Your task is to build any non-Star Wars, licensed podracer.

Only a page back Ace listed every license LEGO has had, and then, two comments later;

These rules are not difficult. The staff do there best to make everything as plain and simple as possible, and as far as I can tell, reading through them, they did just that. Please, would someone tell me where this confusion and need for constant questioning comes from?

I'm thinking we never run this contest again. Ever. This is getting ridiculous.

If your pilot if a rock monster, Stinky Pete, etc etc he/she/it would still need a place "to sit" "to stand" "to recline" in the cockpit.

Come on you guys, it shouldn't be this hard, use common sense.

seems like a great contest, and a lot of fun! Too bad Star Wars is the only non-Lego Original License i own.
Oh, I'm in touch with my inner-child alright, its my outer-adult that I'm having a hard time with.

I hate to be a pain, but JPIII qualifies in every way to being a licensed theme, so I think it really should be added to the list.

So this question applies for all themes, but for instance if I wanted to build a podracer inspired by Sid from the first Toy Story, and I wanted Sid to pilot it, would that be allowed even though Lego never released a Sid figure?

yes, but do you really want to build a Sid themed podracer? do you think building such a podracer will help your chances in getting the fan favorite? and are you really going to build sid podracer?

i honestly am beginning to think that most of the questions now are just questions challenging the rules or there is some sort of competition to point out licenses that were overlooked/omitted or possible loopholes.

while we try and make the rules as airtight as possible to prevent loopholes, i'm getting really tired of it. the rules and guidelines are not that hard to follow. every single minutiae of detail should not have to be spelled out explicitly 10 times over. this isn't that hard.

To clarify: sure. Build your own Sid minifigure. Build your own minifig-sized Mr. Potato head! Your podracer could have mr potatohead-shaped pods driven by a generic no-name anonymous random minifigure, but we can tell the podracer is a Toy Story-themed podracer. As long as the podracer is clearly inspired by a previously-defined Lego license, it's good.

Just FYI, but Mickey Mouse was released in Fabuland-like Lego sets, not just Duplo.

Sorry about the double post. I read the rules, and couldn't find anything about this. I was wondering if I could use a podracer with illegal connections? I built part of my pod, and several pieces get in each other's way, so they can't fully attach to the studs. Is this OK?

What about stickers? Can we use stickers in every way we want (or without cutting I guess...)?

I guess I don't understand what you mean by illegal connections? So long as it's all LEGO parts, you can build it. There's no guideline to say you have to pick it up and swoosh it, so long as you can get it to stay together based on the bricks alone enough to photograph it, you're fine. You just can't glue, tape, etc. or use non-LEGO pieces.

In past contests, we've held that official LEGO stickers are fine (and typically even allowed cutting them). So long as they come from a set, they're fine, and you can use them however you'd like.
If the above post didn't offend you, you're probably reading it wrong.
