This is is a contest I can really get BEHIND!!!

Ahem.
I was really looking forward to that particular set because I liked the Neimoioieiaeiiodan Shuttle.
It came out too small.
Some day, I might build a larger, more accurate version of it.
Anyway, guess I better get to work.

so, does that mean I can build an airspeeder type thing ... with an open area cockpit rather than an enclosed one ?

I've been tinkering and it's just what seems to have come out, but wanted to check if it was within the rules before I posted.

^ Hmm. I don't remember seeing the "it must be a starship" rule at the beginning, and was planning based on the assumption that an atmospheric, open cockpit fighter-type would be fine as long as it was a flying ship.

Given that the canopy/windscreen requirement said any trans-piece is okay, I figured it didn't mean an enclosed cockpit was necessarily a given-- I'm planning to have mine literally be just a windshield.

Here's my entry:



I went for a separatist attack shuttle. It has lasers on each wing with a sensor array on the starboard wing and a laser cannon on the port wing. It is powered by a small ion pulse engine. It fits the pilot and three crew members inside.
The canopy is from the Agent's Robo Attack.

I think that would be acceptable because that's an official canopy that would have been printed if Lego never changed to stickers.

yes, what solo said. if the instructions manual instructed you to put the sticker on the canopy, then that piece as a whole is acceptable.

you're right, i've updated the rules to allow the ship to be any kind of flying vessel: airsheep or starship.

The windscreen may be any official LEGO element that is in a transparent color. Trans-clear, trans-black, trans-yellow, it's completely up to you.

hi there,
just a quick note to those who have already posted their creations, they look great, well done!

I have a silly question I think, so apologies in advance. Are we able to use the "extra" pieces that are sometimes left over after completing a set?

I ask because I'm waiting for my copy of the set to arrive still and I don't plan on building the shuttle before starting my "alt" for the contest.

My guess would be yes. If it's listed in the Peeron or Bricklink inventories, it's fair game. Besides, the "extra" pieces tend to be 1x1 sized pieces, and only one of each, so you wouldn't be able to do too much structurally with them than you could without.

So, with the added canopy piece, does that also include attachment pieces? (i.e., any click or finger-hinge pieces necessary to attach the canopy). Or, are we limited to canopies that can just attach themselves on their own?

^I think there are plenty of attachment pieces already in the set. I don't think you would need to add any others but that is ultimately up to the mods.
