Question about using nail polish

I have a piece that only comes in blue, but I want it to be solid black. From what I understand, I'm going to need to apply a sealant after I paint it. I already have clear fingernail polish in my home which I'm not using for anything else, which makes it a tempting choice. Now my question is this: I've seen several people say that nail polish is inadvisable because it can yellow over time, but if the piece is going to be all-black anyways, would the yellowing effect even be visible?

Nail polish can also crack over time and isn't as nice to plastics. I would not recommend using it, spend the $2-4 for a can of clear spray paint. If you can get a UV protection version all the better.
