This is merely step one in the process. He is getting cleaned up now for a recast and then the "special" version will be constructed.

Enjoy

This is step one, which I plan to use as my "Duro."

I will be sculpting the hat next and then finally the breathing apparatus on the head. Need this one to make the others happen, which is why it is a prototype and step one in the process.

We have progress:

It was a beautiful day, finally warm enough to cast.

Here is the WIP:

There are currently only two of these hats made. I hope to make more shortly. My best guess is I will need MANY!

Duster was made by MMCB, many thanks!!!

Well there's the ridiculously large hat. Looks great!

Are the eyes going to be molded separately and attached or is the eye area painted red?

He has deep set eyes. They will merely be painted on in red. Looks fine that way and was the plan to paint the sculpt all along. His hat is huge, but have you seen the character? I might not have made it large enough!

I hadn't noticed it that much on the show, but the Hasbro 3.75 figure has a tiny head and an enormous hat. You did capture that aspect well.

something brown and furry. *lifts out Wicket* Wicket: Wampa!
Brick Of War: No, Wedge stop eating popcorn! It's after me.

I love how this character was so hyped up and then suddenly dropped off the face of the Galaxy after the third episode...

Really neat fig, though the way the face, particularly the mouth\chin, sticks out from the head looks odd. Duros' faces are rounder and smoother. (EDIT: I see that that's how he looks in the cartoon, so nevermind).

How does the hat stay in place? Is it part of the head, held by gravity, or is there a stud\hole on his head?

The hat is very stable on the head, you can shake the figure and it will not come off. It is not held on by a stud. Basically, if you view the head pictures alone, there are wrinkles that I sculpted in on the forehead. These are inversely created on the inside of the hat and are very tight. This feature holds the hat on and in place.
