[SPACE] Microscale Battlestar Galactica Hangar

Postby Dunechaser » Sat Feb 21, 2009 2:41 pm

I felt bad that I couldn't contribute to the ChiefLUG Battlestar Galactica display at BrickCon 2008, and I've been looking for a way to pay homage to that awesome group build.

Inspired by ChiefLUG's own oMICROn Weekend fanboy cover version of KeithLUG's massive Omicron Weekend, I've created a microscale Battlestar Galactica hangar, complete with itty bitty Colonial Vipers and teeny tiny Colonial Raptors:

Image

Hey Ry, can I have a ChiefLUG brick now?

The Viper design is borrowed from Bodo Elsel, but the Raptor is my own design. The Vipers use the printed tiles from 4484 -- they just wouldn't look as Viper-ish without that red stripe on the tail, I think.

I've uploaded a bunch more pics to Flickr, and I'll be doing the same to my new(ish) MOCpages account later.

This is my first post here on the new FBTB. It's good to be back! :D

hey, it looks really really great, my only gripe would be , can you make them in different colours? i know white and red are only the options really coz of the tile with the design on it but it would be cool, and while im at it, whats a ChiefLUG brick and S.N.O.T peices?

cheers.

jack.

SNOT = Studs Not On Top. It's a building technique, and the ChiefLUG brick is a standard LEGO brick with ChiefLUG printed on it. Ryan gives them to members of ChiefLUG.

This is incredibly awesome Andrew, super <3. Wish they had the colors available to minify my viper ;)

These are really excellently done at this scale! I'd say perfectly microlized. :D From bricks to Battlestar? ;) No, really, a pleasure to look at!

See you around,

Thanks for the kind words, everyone -- particularly Chris, whose microscale MOCs have always inspired my own. :)

Great use of the X-wing printed piece, really finishes off the viper well. And the Raptor design is just perfect.

@ Ed- ChiefLUG bricks are engraved, not printed so to speak:

There's quite a few people on the intertubes who didn't get ChiefLUG bricks because they didn't attend BrickCon. I think I'm going to have to order a new round soon...

@ Andrew- I've said it elsewhere, but I love it! XD The micro Raptor is especially awesome.
