SWTOR: XS Freighter LDD (with detailed Interior)

Postby November2019 » Tue May 13, 2014 5:52 pm

Hello! I recently finished my SWTOR XS Freighter in LDD and wanted to share it. While I've seen cleaner builds (exterior-wise) I feel a sense of accomplishment with this for including a pretty accurate, detailed interior to the ship.

On and off for a few months. There were some frustrating hurdles. It was my first time doing something of this complexity in LDD. Figuring out 'non-standard', oblique-angle building techniques was really a mind-bender for me. Very fun though. XD

I went ahead and merged your new post with your previous thread that had actual content. How many parts are in that beast? Nevermind, it's on the ideas page.

Great job on this. My only observation is that it does not look like the landing gear posts would support this beast in real life. It would need incorporation into the framework.

Thanks so much! I realized super late that I should have just updated it here! Much appreciated!

The landing gear pieces look fragile, but are actually supported by rods that thread through all 4 supporting bricks in each landing gear platform. I may decide to change it later, but for now, I'm hopeful that they'll hold together.

I've just recently gotten back into SWTOR, and have an old smuggler lying around that has this ship. It just doesn't really resonate with me, because it did so much to look "familiar" with the YT-1300. That being said, I like the idea of making some larger ships in that line. I've been toying with making a larger size Fury and Gunship (as my two main characters are a Jedi Guardian and a Sith Juggernaut).
If the above post didn't offend you, you're probably reading it wrong.
