Instead of creating a separate thread for each potential entry, I'll be posting them all here. Questions, comments, criticism, etc. are of course welcome on all submissions.

Captain Thunder

Arcturus "Axel" Thunder was a renowned fighter captain of the old militia. Though crafty and inventive as a fighter, his real recognition came as a skilled mechanic, famed for an incident where, faced with a malfunctioning R2 unit and a damaged engine nacelle, he broke into the engine units during combat and patched it together with spare metal.

He was discharged from the military somewhere around the turn of the century, reportedly being unhappy with new updates and set regulations. His whereabouts since then have been unknown, though it was rumoured he owned a junkyard somewhere on the outer limits.

His return over a decade after his discharge has caused a bit of a stir, especially after his announcement that he would be participating in the elite Galaxy Class Tournament. No one quite knows his intents in taking part, but those who knew the captain in his fighting days say they're sure of a deeper plan hatching underneath that battle-worn helmet.

Captain Thunder's first submission for the competition is believed to be a heavily modifed Orion-Class Pneumatic Fighter, as evidenced by the exhaust tubes that make up the main frame.

The Orion-Class fighters, long-outdated and considered now a "failed experiment", were known for their immense engine stability (running on compressed air circulating continually through their large exhaust tubes), but weaknesses in almost all other areas. It lacked any kind of offense system, and its bizarre mainframe made it difficult to incorporate any tracking system or defense mechanisms, leaving it basically useless as an actual fighter.

In modifying the ship, Thunder appears to have ditched the main frame in favor of a more traditional set-up, as well as modifying the central circuitry boards and affixing laser cannons on the sides of the ship. The...inventive paint job appears to be his contribution as well. Thunder informs us he has nicknamed his creation "Packrat".
