Toy Fair 2010
This year’s Toy Fair had a boat load of licenses to cover. In addition to the old stand by, Star Wars, there was the Disney properties consisting of Toy Story, Prince of Persia, and Cars. With a new Harry Potter movie on the way, LEGO also releasing a series of sets. Early rumors had pegged the HP sets to be mere re-releases of previously released sets, but the sets have been completely revamped and upgraded with new elements and minifigs. With only one release cycle scheduled for October, it is safe to say that Harry Potter is going out with a BANG.
Attendees of this year’s Collector’s Event were in for a big treat as they not only got 1, but two exclusives. The first was designed, signed, and numbered by Angus MacLane, an animator at Pixar who is also the talent behind Pixar’s Burn-E short film. Angus unvieled a series of LEGO MOCs called “Cube Dudes” and thus spawned a whole new genre of building. Below is a Cube Dude Buzz Lightyear in a plastic display case:
The second premium is an all-white Boba Fett minifigure using the original mold for the helmet/backpack. It’s origins are mysterious as well as the rarity. Keep an eye out on the front page as we will be reporting news on this figure as it happens.
Below you’ll find links to each theme’s photo collection on our flickr stream. This year, we’ve created photo sets for each set, and grouped them into a collection for their respective themes. We hope you enjoy this year’s coverage!
