The LEGO Movie Released Today

Today is June 17th which is release day for The LEGO Movie on disc format. It’s been available digitally for a while now, but us LEGO nerds are only in it for the minifigs, am I right? Despite the self-imposed pre-order embargo by Amazon, they are now shipping and selling The Everything Is Awesome edition. If you haven’t pre-ordered, the current asking price for is $34.99. This should be the same price at Walmart but at the time of this writing, their site wasn’t functioning preventing me from verifying the priceEdit: Looks like Walmart is selling for $34.96, and the movie is available for Pick-Up-Today at participating locations -Nick.

Target.com also has the movie in stock along with a deal: buy The LEGO Movie and a LEGO videogame or toy and get $10 off. The deal online doesn’t state this, but the discount will only be applied if you select 70802 Bad Cop’s Pursuit, 70805 Trash Chomper, or 70804 Ice Cream Machine or The LEGO Movie videogame for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U or 3DS. This deal is also good in stores.

2014’s LEGO Star Wars Hallmark Ornament is Boba Fett!

Yes, the Hallmark Keepsake LEGO Star Wars ornament this year is the greatest bounty hunter in the galaxy, Boba Fett. Three things I love all rolled into one, Boba Fett, LEGO and geeky Christmas ornaments. I guess I know what I’m getting for my anniversary this summer! Honestly, I was surprised that he wasn’t picked last year, but I suppose they wanted to get a “good guy” in there after two years worth of villainy and helmets. Which reminds me, I still need to get the Stormtrooper ornament I missed…

Thanks to banthafodder for the heads up in the forums.

LEGO Day at Gamestop

If you’re looking for something to do today, Saturday June 7th, Gamestop is hosting a LEGO Day at their retail locations offering deals on all things LEGO. Some of the older games priced at $19.99 are now 2 for $29.99. The most recent games, LEGO The Hobbit, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, and The LEGO Movie, are $10 off. And lastly, there are a few giveaways to take note of. Pre-order LEGO Batman 3 and get a free exclusive poster, get a free minifigure with any LEGO purchase, get a free LEGO Chima card (whatever the heck that is) for the iOS app with any LEGO purchase, and finally get a free Super Pack DLC with the purchase of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. You’ll also get 10% extra credit if you’re a Power Up Rewards member towards the purchase of a LEGO Game.

I’m headed down there to see if I can make amends for my laziness by not getting Good Morning Bilbo Baggins and Western Emmet the first time around.

Rocket Raccoon Gets His Own Comic and a LEGO Variant Cover Too

Rocket_Raccoon_1_Lego_Variant

For those that don’t pay attention to comics, you may have missed the Rocket Raccoon comic given out on Free Comic Book Day to get fans excited for his first solo ongoing title, written and drawn by Scottie Young. The big news for us is that Marvel has decided to dust off the old LEGO cover concept and give us one dedicated to the man himself, Stan Lee.

A million times yes. A true oversight last year in promotion of the LEGO Marvel Superheroes game, since Stan played such a fun part in it. Luckily, Leonel Castellani has been brought back to correct this oversight. I could do with a few more of these myself (key word being “few”) and I’d love to see one as a Guardians Of The Galaxy variant with the now released full roster of figures. Here is the press release on the comic for those interested in what’s inside this one:

This July, blast off with the smallest Guardian of the Galaxy (packing the biggest gun) in ROCKET RACCOON #1 – written and drawn by Eisner-award winning storyteller Skottie Young! Today, Marvel is proud to present your new look at this highly anticipated ongoing series launching ahead of one of the biggest movies of the Summer!

As defenders of the cosmos go, Rocket Raccoon has faced his fair share of battles. He’s been a hero to the weak, a champion of the good, and a protector the innocent. Not to mention a heartthrob to many intergalactic species across the galaxy. But is he ready to be…a fugitive?!

Framed for a crime he didn’t commit, Rocket and his pal Groot’s high-flying life of adventure and heroism may be a thing of the past as he’ll soon find himself on the run and on the wrong side of the law. And the authorities aren’t the only one’s hot on his TAIL! (Too easy). An intergalactic boxing match, fierce alien creatures, and a deadly militia of Rocket’s ex-girlfriends known only as the Exterminators – and that’s just the FIRST ISSUE!

“Despite Rocket’s attitude and antics he has a heart under there, says Skottie Young, in an interview with Marvel.com. “He has some things he may or may not want to need in his life. He’s going to have to examine that. When you’re believed to be the last of your kind left in this galaxy or all the galaxies, that’s something you carry with you. That plays a role in the way you operate. We’ll see him explore that a little bit.”

“But ya know, right after that he’ll probably shoot some stuff,” he continued.

It’s one raccoon (but whatever you do, DO NOT call him a raccoon) against the entire galaxy this July as superstar creator Skottie Young brings his A-game! And the galaxy won’t even know what hit it! You do not want to miss the highly anticipated ROCKET RACCOON #1 when it blasts its way into comic shops and digital devices this July 2nd!

The only odd thing is that Rocket is one of the Marvel characters Stan had no hand in creating and he was almost not included as a cameo in the film, so him showing up on this comic is kind of funny. I personally, will be laughing all the way to the comic book shop.

Excelsior!

21103 The DeLorean Time Machine Discounted 20%

21103

Several retailers have discounted the LEGO CUUSOO Back to the Future set 21103 The DeLorean Time Machine. Amazon, Walmart, and Target are all discounting the set by 20% bringing the $34.99 set down to $27.99 before any tax or shipping. Methinks they are trying to make space for more copies of the vastly superior Ghostbusters set.

LEGO Movie Benny’s Spaceship, Construct-o-Mech, and Police Dropship Now Available

The Ecto-1 isn’t the only set going up for sale today. The other three LEGO Move sets are also going up for sale tonight: 70816 Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! $99.99 (Amazon | LEGO Shop@Home), 70815 Super Secret Police Dropship $79.99 (Amazon | LEGO Shop@Home), and 70814 Emmet’s Construct-o-Mech $59.99 (Amazon | LEGO Shop@Home). I haven’t been able to find any of them yet so if you’re like me and still looking to pick up some or all of these sets, now’s the time.

And for you Uni Kitty fans out there, in case you didn’t know, Emmet’s Construct-o-Mech has Angry Kitty, and Benny’s ship has Astro Kitty.

Amazon Discounts LEGO Star Wars, Super Heroes

If you missed out on the BOGO 40% deal earlier this week, there are a couple of things you should know. First, even though the LEGO items have been removed from this page, the discounts still seems to apply. For example, 75019 AT-TE is currently listed at $66.31, 26% off of MSRP of $89.99. Having two of them in my cart adds up to $132.62. On the final page before checkout, the BOGO 40% promotion kicks in, applying a discount of -$26.52, bringing my total down to $106.10 before any tax is applied. It seems though that some of you were having trouble getting the BOGO discount to work. Keep in mind that the discount is 40% off only the item that is equal or lesser value, and only one discount will be applied per cart. Some of the sets where the discount still applies include 75019 AT-TE, 75003 A-wing Starfighter, 75040 General Grievous’ Wheel Bike, and 75022 Mandalorian Speeder. It seems some of the others sets are sold out from Amazon and offered by third party sellers, and thus not eligible for promotion. Not entirely sure when the promotion ends; it says “while supplies last” so don’t hesitate if you’re looking for a deal, especially on that AT-TE.

Secondly, Amazon has applied some pretty nice discounts across a range of sets, starting at 20% going all the way up to a whopping 37%:

And lastly, some Super Heroes sets are also discounted, ranging from 20% up to 26% off:

BOGO 40% at Amazon on Select LEGO and NERF Toys

7965 Millennium Falcon

Amazon is currently having a crazy BOGO 40% off sale on select toys, including some LEGO sets. Add one set, and you’ll get the second set of equal or lesser value at 40% off. And the real kicker here is that some of the sets are already discounted before the promotional discount takes affect. Example: 75019 AT-TE is regularly priced at $89.99. It is currently 33% off at $59.99. If you buy two, the additional 40% off discount kicks in, making your total for two to be $95.98, or just $48 each. Check out the list for more deals. Other notable sets include LEGO Star Wars 7965 Millennium Falcon, 75003 A-wing Starfighter, LEGO Lord of the Rings 79008 Pirate Ship Ambush, and a whole bunch of NERF toys if you’re into that sort of thing.
