Not to be outdone, Target this week is having a sale on ALL LEGO Toy Story sets. Discounts range from 15 to 25% off. The best deal? The Target exclusive 7598 Pizza Planet Truck. Unfortunately, I can’t see what the price is online, but even at the minimum 15% off, it is a great deal for a set that includes most of the major characters from the movie. And it shoots pizzas! What more can you ask for? Hit the button and do a search for “LEGO Toy Story” to see what’s available online.

Toys’R’Us this week is slashing prices on select LEGO Toy Story 3 sets:
- 7597 Western Train: MSRP $79.99, down to $63.99
- 7599 Garbage Truck Getaway: MSRP $49.99, down to $35.99
- 7596 Trash Compactor Escape: MSRP $49.99, down to $39.99
- 7789 Lotso’s Dump Truck: MSRP $19.99, down to $15.99
It should be noted that the best deal is TRU exclusive set, Garbage Truck Getaway. TRU’s regular non-sale price is actually $45.99, lower than MSRP. With the 20% off sale, this will probably the best sale price you’ll see for a while. TRU is also offering free shipping if your order is $49 or more which makes ordering online even sweeter. Sale prices are good through June 26th.
Thanks to doodlebird for the heads up.
Those of you looking to get multiples of the little green three-eyed alien from Toy Story and didn’t want to/couldn’t afford to amass the higher priced sets may have a bit of a reprieve. Previously available only from France Toys’R’Us stores, CloneEmperor from our chat room reports being able to buy 30070 at his Toys’R’Us in Canada for $4.99 CAD. I can only imagine they will be available for the rest of North America soon as it smells like another TRU worldwide exclusive.
The new Toy Story 3 sets are now out at Toys R Us. At the brick & mortar stores, select sets are 25% off:
PoP Fight For The Dagger $22.49
PoP Battle Of Almut $59.99
TS3 Duplo Great Train Chase $26.24
TS3 Trash Compactor $37.49
However, if you go to Toys R Us online, all TS3 and PoP sets have the 25% off sale.
If you’re lucky to find it in-stock, I highly recommend getting the Garbage Truck. Aside from being a great set, it also has the best price-per-piece ratio of all the new TS3 sets. Plus, in an astonishing turn of events, Toys R Us is actually selling it for LESS then Lego.com! ($45 vs. $50, or $33.74 if you can get it on sale).
For anyone looking to get the neat little Pizza Planet Delivery Truck, so far it is only available at LEGO.com.
Thanks to dane in the forums for some of this info.
Woody’s Roundup, Right here every day, Woody’s Roundup, come on, it’s time to play
There’s Jessie, the yodeling cowgirl,(yo-de-la, you-de-la, yo-de-la)
Bullseye, he’s woody’s horse, (grrr…he’s a smart one)
Pete the old prospector, and Woody the man himself, of course
It’s time for Woody’s Roundup, He’s the very best!
He’s the rootinest tootinest cowboy in the Wild, Wild West
This was among the hardest of the Toy story sets to review, mostly because it was the least iconic of the first wave, and, as I initially thought, the least interesting. It was designed on something never seen in this form in the first two movies… Buzz’s starship was the box the original Buzz Lightyear came in.
Toys’R’Us has listed 8 new LEGO Toy Story sets on their website:
- Jessie’s Roundup (Duplo) $14.99
- Lotso’s Dump Truck $19.99
- Pizza Planet Truck (Duplo) $19.99, this is NOT the pizza-shooting System scale one previewed by Don at Bricks By The Bay, this is a Duplo sized set
- Great Train Chase (Duplo) $34.99
- Garbage Truck $44.99
- Trash Compactor Escape $49.99
- Western Train Chase $49.99
I’d add pictures and make it fancy but that would take way too much time. Toys’R’Us usually gets new LEGO Product first, even before Shop@Home; it’s just a matter of time before some of these sets start showing up at other retailers.
When I was a kid, which sadly, was probably before most of you were born, I had a few favorite toys. One, of course, was LEGO stuff. The sheer amount of houses, cars, and space ships I built was beyond belief. GI Joe, of course, being a child of the 80s. Transformers, and, yes, GoBots (my all time favorite was the shuttle GoBot, even more than my Bumblebee or Starscream Transformers… in fact, I still have that, while the transformers were long ago consumed by garbage bunnies).
Toy Story sets hold a special place in my heart. Not just because they capture one of my favorite movies, or come from the mighty Pixar, whose movies have set a standard that all animation, and even all movies, try to ascribe to. No, I love these sets because they created a sense of excitement in me that I hadn’t really felt since the first Star Wars sets hit. They are unique, and the first of the Disney line, capturing something that is already unique, and making it special.
As you may or may not know, Bricks by the Bay (northern California’s first LEGO convention) was held last weekend, and I was lucky enough to attend. Unfortunately I did not plan my trip well and didn’t take too many pictures, but I wanted to share with you may favorite upcoming set of this year that The LEGO Group decided to bring along and have on display for the fans: #7598 – Pizza Planet Truck Rescue
It will be an exclusive set, which I’m assuming means it will only be available on LEGO Shop at Home and in Toys R Us, and the price point will be $40 if I overheard correctly. I apologize for not having more solid information to share… I was busy playing with it. That does seem a bit high for a set with only 225 parts, but it has a lot of large slopes and windscreens, plus four of the special Toy Story minifig: Hamm (not shown in my picture, but he’s part of the set), Rex, Buzz, and one LGM. The hood, doors, and camper shell roof all open and you can fit everyone inside. Oh, and it shoots pizzas out of the front. How cool is that?
Maybe it’s just me because my first job was delivering pizzas in an old Toyota pickup, maybe it’s because of the a commonly known running gag to include the iconic “Delivery Shuttle” as an Easter egg in every Pixar movie, or maybe it’s because this is just a really fun and well designed set… whatever the reason, I am buying this the first chance I get. I don’t remember the last official set I’ve been this excited about.
