The Lone Ranger Box Official Box Art

79108 - 3

In case you’ve forgotten what the official box art looks like for the The Lone Ranger sets, here they are. The three sets I’m looking forward to are 79108 Stagecoach Escape pictured above, 79109 Colby City Showdown, and 79110 Silver Mine Shootout. But mostly the Stagecoach set because it’s awesome.

The Lone Rangers Videos Explode Onto Youtube

The last of the set videos to included Erik Varszegi’s demonstations cover the new Lone Ranger theme. When I first saw these sets I was underwhelmed to say the least, but after seeing them in person with Erik’s demos I’ve changed my tune. These are the rootin’-est, tootin’-est, explodin’-est, horse on a hot train roof sets I’ve seen and I want them all. On the same note, based on all the great play features and the thought of all these wild west explosions on screen, I have even less interest in seeing the film. Watch the videos and see for yourself.

Hi-yo, Silver! Away!

Lone Ranger Fully Loaded

79111 Constitution Train Chase 1

We just finished uploading all of our Lone Ranger photo assets (video is still to come!). With tons of play features (read as: exploding things), this series really does pay homage well to the old Wild West theme from a few years back, and provides excellent play opportunity for the little Michael Bay in all of us. There are a total of five sets ranging in price from the $12.99 79106 Cavalry Builder Set all the way up the $99.99 79111 Constitution Train Chase set. The absolute gem in the theme? Without a doubt, 79108 Stagecoach Escape.

79110 Silver Mine Shootout 1 79109 Colby City Showdown 1
79108 Stagecoach Escape 1 79107 Comanche Camp 1
79106 Cavalry Builder Set 1

We’ll be back after a short dinner break with Lord of the Rings and the non-licensed IPs.

Marcos Bessa’s Constitution Train Chase

79111 LEGO The Lone Ranger - Constitution Train Chase

Not sure if I should post this under MOC Spotlight or not, but that’s basically what it is. If you haven’t gotten a good look at The Lone Ranger’s 79111 Constitution Train Chase, head on over to Marcos’ Flickr page and check it out. I have to admit, I might have to shoot for a review of this one after talking a close look. Let Marcos know how you think he’s doing if you’re so inclined, I think those comments should be pretty positive overall. I really like knowing who designed what and while that might not be a good thing in some cases, I think Marcos is off to a great start. Well played!

UK Toy Fair 2013 … Lone Ranger

All of the Lone Ranger sets were on display, although the minifigures for 4 of the sets were not present at the Toy Fair … they were all replaced with standard yellow figures.  The release date were were given was 19th July, although the dealer catalogue I have suggests May.  The sets overall looked really good and may we  drive a resurgence is interest in cowboy themes.  The guy who was showing us these sets said that the Lone Ranger figure is different in each set, although I can’t vouch for that as we didn’t see all the variants.

79106 Cavalry Builder Set … a nice little “battle pack” set, with 3 cavalry figure and the Lone Ranger.  Comes with a horse (the one that can rear up, that first came in the LOTR sets) and a small fort & cannon.  Price point £11.99.

79107 Comanche Camp … a set consisting of a wigwam, canoe and a scorpion pit.  Comes with 3 figures, Lone Ranger, Tonto and Chief Redmeat (if I heard my audio recording correctly).  Price point £19.99.

79108 Stagecoach Escape … a pretty nice looking stagecoach (with proper suspension), featuring 5 minifigures … Tonto, Lone Ranger, 2 bad guys and Red Harrington, plus 3 horses.  Apparently, the safe that’s on top of the Stagecoach was a Lego invention and they liked it so much, they put it in the film!  Price point £29.99.

79109 Colby City Showdown … a bank and a jail, both of which have plenty of play features where parts of the sets will blow up … a safe, the front of the bank and the jail cell.  Figures include 2 bad guys, Dan Reid, Tonto and the Lone Ranger.  Price point £39.99.

79110 Silver Mine Shootout … a pretty nice playset, again featuring parts of the set that will blow up.  Set features Tonto, the Lone Ranger, 2 baddies and another Indian.  There seemed to be some nice chrome silver parts too (Coins, bullion bars etc), which is the treasure the baddie is trying to steal, I assume.   Price point £69.99.

79111 Constitution Train Chase … a great looking train, including a complete circle of track and seven minifigures – Rebecca Reid, Tonto, Lone Ranger, Rebecca Reid’s son, cavalry officer (that had a rather nice cavalry hat and hair mold) and another bad guy who also has a working gattling gun, which was a good play feature indeed.  Price point £79.99.

LEGO Announces The Lone Ranger Theme

The Lone Ranger

Update: We’ve been asked to take the image down.

At some point in the recent past, LEGO made live the brand site for their newest licensed theme, The Lone Ranger. You only get the CG image above with a date of April 2013. The Lone Ranger movie is a Disney film starring Armie Hammer as title character and Johnny Depp as Tonto. The expected release date for the film is July 3, 2013. I have doubts as to whether or not sets based on the movie will be available for viewing at Toy Fair. Disney’s pulled product from the booth for the collector event only to put them back out for the industry appointments. Stay tuned for more news as we get it.

Thanks to Groove Bricks for writing it in.
