Build Tony Stark’s Hall of Armor

Wondering what to do with all those Iron Man minifigures? Well, the LEGO Club’s got you covered with this downloadable set of instructions to build “Iron Man’s Laboratory” which, in my opinion, should be called, Tony Stark’s Laboratory or Hall of Armor, but I get it. I understand if you don’t label everything as Iron Man it loses its appeal. And the name Tony Stark isn’t as marketable as Iron Man.

Seems like a fun and easy build. Smashing Bricks says that you’ll need the sticker set from 76007 Malibu Mansion Attack.

Thanks to ninnymuggins for the heads up.

Free 30167 Iron Man vs. Fighting Drone Polybag

Iron Man vs. Fighting Drone

LEGO Shop@Home is currently running a promotion where you can score a free polybag set of Iron Man vs. Fighting Drone. Just make a purchase of $50 or more and the set will be added to your cart automagically. Promotion lasts from May 16 through 11:59pm EST, May 31, 2013, or while supplies last. And in case you were wondering, this Iron Man is the same one you get from 6867 Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape. Now would be a good time to pick up those Man of Steel sets, or Iron Man 3 sets. Also, you still get free shipping if your order reaches $75 or more.

This deal is also good at LEGO Brand Retail except for the stores at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, CA and Disneyworld in Orlando, FL. Hey, I’m not making this up. It’s in the calendar.

Coulson Lives In Promo For Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Coulson’s back and Joss Whedon has rewarded him with a new team and a sweet ride for screwing him over (with an snazzy death scene *SPOILERS!* Crap, I was supposed to say that first) in last summers blockbusting Avengers flick. I’ve been impatiently waiting to share this news and while the world was a buzz last week, ABC was reluctant to confirm picking up Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. until the weekend when all their ducks were in a row. This promo aired during the season finale of Once Upon A Time and I’m guessing it added a few views to that shows ratings for the night as they also launched the first phase of their MAOS viral campaign. I’m really looking forward to this and was pleased to see the apparent confirmation of a suspicion I had regarding the casting of J. August Richards and the secrecy surrounding his character. After the unfulfilled rumours of a Heroes For Hire show and the scrapping of AKA Jessica Jones, I’m pleased to believe that the potential for these concepts to be wrapped into Agents is even greater and that isn’t lost on Joss. I look forward to finding out how Coulson has managed to remain breathing, the possibility of finally getting an agent Phil figure and the increased probability of seeing a fig based on a certain unbreakable skinned hero. Fingers crossed the cancellation curse will skip this Whedon television outing. Oh, and that it’ll be good.

Walmart Now Lists Iron Patriot Pre-order Bonus

Iron Patriot

Walmart.com has updated their pre-order pages for the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game. The listings now show Iron Patriot as a pre-order bonus. You must order a console version of the game in order to get the figure so Nintendo DS and 3DS fans are out of luck. Xbox 360 ($49.96), PS3 ($49.96), and Wii U ($49.96) games qualify. Walmart lists the ship date as 12/31/2013, but everywhere else lists 10/31/2013 so I’m unsure when you can actually expect to get your minifig plus video game accessory.

Iron Patriot Pre-Order Bonus at Walmart

Iron Patriot

Update: Clarified the pre-order terms.

GoNintendo has published an article today outlining the various retailer exclusives for when you pre-order LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. That exclusive we were all expecting GameStop to have? Well it looks like the big blue W has it. Walmart’s pre-order bonus is none other than Iron Patriot. The article states you have to pre-order the console version, so no cheap handheld love for us gamers on the go. There are no details yet on their web page, and they only list the Xbox360 version online, so you may have to head to a b&m store to get your pre-order in.

I have to say, this is a really, really, sh***y way to get Iron Patriot. Look, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes looks like a FANTASTIC game by its own right. There is no reason to restrict a CORE character from the Iron Man 3 movie as a pre-order exclusive. Out of all the characters in the Marvel Universe, THIS is the guy they go with? It sucks to be that kid who goes to see the movie and wants to play with his LEGO Iron Man toys and not have an Iron Patriot to go with it. Nope, sorry, gotta wait til October when the game comes out. There are 42 versions of Iron Man’s armor, why not pick one of those for crying out loud?

Yeah, I’m pissed. Stupid, stupid move.

Thanks go to Chris White for writing it in.

Gamestop Reveals Pre-order Bonus for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

gamestop

Gamestop has updated their site for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes detailing their pre-order bonus, and it’s not as great as I was expecting. The pre-order bonus is a Spider-Man keychain. Yeah, I know. In case you weren’t aware, the keychain is available for purchase right now from LEGO Shop@Home. This is kind of good news and bad news depending on how you feel about chasing exclusives. The good news is that there won’t be another exclusive to chase down if you weren’t into the video game. The bad news is that this is a wasted opportunity to get an obscure character or a variant suit of a popular character. There is a tiny chance that the keychain could be of Black Suit Spider-Man, or another varient paint job, but if that were the case, why make it a keychain? Unfortunately, there’s no picture yet to verify the suit color. Promotional exclusives have more often than not been a channel to put figures out there that would not normally fit into a regular set. Considering the roster of the previous pre-order game bonuses (Power Suit Lex Luthor, Elrond, Voodoo Doll Jack Sparrow, and Chase McCain), this Spider-Man keychain is pretty much a pre-order cancel button.

Thor: The Dark World Teaser Trailer

While many are no doubt less than thrilled about more sets featuring the easy to get adoptive brothers Thor and Loki, I’ll be happy if it brings some good sets period. I’m stoked that this trailer confirms that the sequel will be the next step in Marvel’s move to a more cosmic scale. I enjoyed the first film and look forward to November to see if they can improve the franchise and the figs. With any luck, Natalie Portman may be the next actor to be represented in minifig form for multiple characters, we’ll get some updated looks and an Odin fig. End of list.

Iron Man 3 Posters Get The LEGO Treatment

LEGO Iron Man 3 Poster 1

It only took me about 48 hours to post these new LEGO-ized Iron Man 3 posters after they popped up on ComicBookMovie.com on Saturday, but better late than never. Of course, what caught my eye was the unwarranted inclusion of the Iron Patriot armour in both posters. I hate the thought that he’d pop up as a hard to get exclusive, but the hope is alive either way.

Hall Of Armour, Complete With Two Turntables And A Microphone

Iron Man - Hall of Armour

With all the Iron Man suits floating around now, I’ve been calling for MOCs of Tony Stark’s Hall of Armour and have found the first one to tickle my fancy. Jared Chan has put together a nice rendition of the hall as seen in the upcoming film and has taken pictures of it as presented in many promotional shots. Tony may be a rich, egotistical engineering genius, but he’s still a guy and what self respecting man cave comes without tunes?

Two Turntables & A Microphone

Seriously, I don’t know. I’m more of a rumpus room kind of guy.
Though I do love the term LEGOratory

IM3 “Unlock The Armors” Suits Fully Revealed

Heartbreaker

I’m just finally getting around to updating the post on the “Unlock The Armor” game from Facebook. While there were disappointingly only two more suits, the interesting part is the images of the full armours head to toe that were also revealed. This is the best look we’ve seen of some of these suits and should help builders and customizers alike. I’d hoped to get a good look at the arms of the “Red Snapper” and was amused and delighted at the different design. It’s nice to see Tony is working towards having a suit for any occasion as he has in the comics for years. His on screen OCD is finally showing.
