In approximately three hours the first round of polls will close and the winners will be revealed. If you have an active forum account don’t forget to log in and check out the competitors, your last minute vote might very well change someones fate. To make things easier for you there’s a full list of poll threads here. The good thing about charting out all the rounds before hand is the winners won’t have to wait for an announcement to start building their next ship. As soon as the poll results are public you’ll know who you’re up against. I’ll have the new threads up tonight, and a revised bracket ready to post in the morning with a gallery of all the winning starfighters. Good luck everyone!

Target is offering a modest 15% discount on 21103 The DeLorean Time Machine bringing the price down to $29.99. Use coupon code “TGCDNTUZ” to apply an additional $5 discount, bringing the price to $24.99. REDCard members will save an additional 5%, bringing the price down even further to $23.74 before any taxes. REDCard members will also get free standard shipping; otherwise, shipping starts at a little under $6.
They are also discounting 9516 Jabba’s Palace by applying a temporary price cut. The sale price is $78.29 ($74.27 if you’re using a REDCard), a 35% drop from $119.99 MSRP. This item ships for free since it reaches the $50 minimum required for free shipping to kick in.
These are probably one of the most significant discounts we’ve seen on this pair of sets since their debut back in August. Right now, Amazon is applying a 29% discount on both 75020 Jabba’s Sail Barge and 75021 Republic Gunship bringing their prices down to $84.99, down from $119.99 MSRP. Amazon usually applies a discount to match another online retailer but checking the usual suspects yields no competitive match. This one seems to be all Amazon.
Also, if you’ve missed this the first couple of times we mentioned it, 75019 AT-TE seems to be on perma-discount at $60.99, a 32% discount off of $89.99 MSRP, thanks to Target selling it at that price.
Out of the sixty four contestants who signed up all but one of them submitted their ships on time, so a great turn out for the opening round. Unfortunately two more were DQ’ed on technicalities but that’s still a very promising start. Loads of fantastic builds to sort through means some real tough choices for voters. The polls are now open to active forum members. They’re each in the same threads where the builders posted their photos, and you can sign in and see a quick list here. The poll only last 48 hours, and time is up around 9:30PM on Tuesday night.
Just a quick heads up to all you procrastinating builders: you now have less than five hours remaining to submit your models. Anything submitted after 8PM Pacific Time tonight will be too late and you will forfeit your position in the tournament bracket. So far forty five out of the sixty four have posted. If any of the remaining nineteen miss the deadline their opponent will automatically advance to the next round while the polls will determine the rest. As far as the polls themselves, they will take a little bit of time to set up but I should have them ready within a few hours after the deadline at most. Stay tuned!
It’s holiday shopping time. Can you feel it yet? I’m sure we’ll be seeing more posts like this where etailers try and out-price each other for your hard-earned dollars.
Today’s fight brings us two deals. The first deal is for 21103 The DeLorean Time Machine, aka the Back to the Future set. Normaly priced at $34.99, Amazon and Walmart both have it just $29.97, a 14% discount off of $34.99 MSRP and probably the lowest price we’ve seen on the set.
The other item is 75021 Republic Gunship, the finest gunship to date. Walmart currently has it listed for $79.97! That’s a 33% discount off of $119.99 MSRP! Amazon hasn’t matched that price yet, but it’s just a matter of time so keep checking back.
Thanks to Nick for the heads up.
75046 Coruscant Police Gunship
75044 Droid Tri-Fighter
The Coruscant Police Gunship popped up on Brickset today and a little bit of digging pins the source as a Dutch merchant’s facebook page, originally spotted by Hoth Bricks. As with the rest of the 2014 sets revealed recently the images are the extent of the details. The Gunship is notable for being the only new ship in the entire wave. The Droid Tri-Fighter is on it’s third revision if I’m remembering correct, now with the brand new spring loaded missiles of course and what appears to be Chancellor Palpatine in handcuffs. Someone up to date with the Clone Wars cartoon will have to fill me in as to why.
Thanks for the heads up Chris.
You may have seen the Brickset listings for what looked to be a 2014 replacement for the Planets series. Well, it’s not quite that, but it may be a nice chance to score some unique Star Wars figures on the cheap. As a well documented lover of all things Rebel pilot, I’m very happy to see what appears to be Theron Nett, aka Red 10, and R2-X2 (or at least his dome). Plus, you know…super cute!
I received an email last night describing an unadvertised sale that Toys’R'Us brick and mortar stores. I drove down to my local store last night and can verify that the sale is true. Right now through November 23, select sets are marked down 50% off*. The reason for that asterisk is that TRU typically inflates their price up beyond MSRP, but even with their additional markup, the final sale price is still 30-36% off of MSRP. For example, I was able to pick up The Lone Ranger set 79108 Stagecoach Escape is priced $39.99. Normal MSRP for the set is $29.99. Final out-the-door price before tax was just $19.99, 33% off! I also picked up 79105 Baxter Robot Rampage for $24.99 (normal MSRP $39.99), and 75014 Battle of Hoth for $29.99 (normal MSRP $49.99). The list below isn’t comprehensive of everything that’s on sale, so use the price scanner to double check. Good luck!
Legends of Chima Eris’ Interceptor 19.99
City Satellite Launch Pad 11.99
City Tanker Truck 10.99
Lone Ranger Constitution Train Chase 64.99
Castle The Gatehouse Raid 17.49
Star Wars Battle of Hoth 29.99
Star Wars Desert Skiff 17.49
Technic Tractor 22.49
Lone Ranger Stag ecoach Escape 19.99
Lone Ranger Colby City Showdown 32.49
Castle Gold Getaway 10.99
The sixty four entry limit flew by Thursday afternoon and we’re on schedule to kick off the next phase. The bracket above (click for full res version) shows all of the competing pilots, each paired off with their first challenger and the letters they’ll be using for their starfighters. If you registered before the deadline and your pilot is shown above you can start building right away. The deadline for this round is next Sunday at 8pm Pacific time and you can find dedicated threads for each match up right here in the contest forum (you may need to check the second page, there are 32 threads in this opening round). The polls will go up shortly after that deadline and run for only two days before the next round starts.
