There’s a brand spanking new trailer for LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 out on the intertubes and I must say, the visuals look fantastic. I’m not a fan of Harry Potter by any means, not because I don’t like it, I just never got around to reading any of the books, but based on this trailer alone, the game looks worth picking up.
It’s almost an annual occurrence now it seems, but here in the UK, we will be treated to another series of free Lego sets from a national newspaper. The deal starts next Saturday, the 8th October. The sets available will be :
No word yet on the distribution channels for this or whether it’s a collect on the day only deal. When that’s known, I’ll post that news.
The holding page on The Sun’s website can be found here.
It’s collect on the day only, from branches of WH Smiths or Toys R Us … no collecting the vouchers and sending off later.
There’s also a golden 2 x 4 brick inserted into random sets from throughout the promotion. Each has a code on it, which you can phone a number to find out what prize you’ve won. More details can be seen here.
As great as the Star Wars battle packs had been in the past for building large amounts of generic characters, that standard has changed. This may be due in part to expanding the format to other themes, but for whatever reason the smaller sets have really come into their own. In many cases they have extremely rare parts and/or exclusive figures and it’s a trend I for one love, but at 64 pieces and only one exclusive fig does this set live up to this growing expectation? Forum Member SDIronClaw found a flyer advertising a Buy One Get One 50% Off promotion on all LEGO construction sets. Star Wars, Harry Potter, Pirates… everything! As always, beware of the TRU markup, especially on any licensed or exclusive set, and you may wind up with a decent discount. Appears to be valid in-stores and online. Offer good September 9th and 10th only. Good luck!
Ron Weasley also gets a new skill, the ability to open joke boxes left around the game by his brothers. Inside players will find helpful tools, like an instant swamp, fireworks or a pair of shoes that allow him to walk up walls. If someone other than Ron tried to open a joke box they’ll get punched in the face with a giant boxing glove.
Punched in the face with a giant boxing glove. Awesome.

We’ll be reviewing the game once it’s out and will have a review done for Years 1-4 soon.
At first glance, 4867 Hogwarts looks like just a poor man’s version of the full-blown Hogwarts Castle. Even more puzzling is the fact that right next to it on the shelf IS 4842 Hogwarts Castle. So beyond scope and size, what really sets the smaller 4867 apart from its big brother? (more…)
For all of its mystical wonder, the Harry Potter franchise is largely devoid of one thing – vehicles. There are only a handful of iconic transports in the films, and the Knight Bus is one of ‘em. Given the shortage of vehicular fodder and LEGO’s affinity for a good set of wheels, it makes sense that there would be multiple iterations of a few transports. That said, the 4866 Knight Bus is more than just a re-release of a previous model. (more…)
