The time has come to start the bracket play portion of our Mech Madness tournament! Above you can see the full setup, Heroes on the left and Villains on the right. Forum members should step right this way and vote in each of the head to head polls. Each round will knock out half the field so every vote counts. These polls will be open for three days then the bracket will be updated and the next round will go up on Saturday. Good luck everyone!

The entries are in and the first round of voting has commenced. You have one week to pick the top 16 for both groups who will then be seeded into our tournament bracket. Click here to choose your Heroes, and here to choose your Villains. You get five choices per poll this round and they can not be changed, so make your choices wisely.
As of this moment you have exactly 24 hours remaining to submit your Mech Madness 2012: Secret Crisis contest entry. You’ve all had two full months to build and from the looks of the robots posted so far that time has been put to good use. I’m expecting some last minute surprises like we usually get with our contests, but even if we locked it down right now we’d have an extremely impressive group to judge. Last week we revealed the full prize packs so hopefully that motivated any procrastinators.
It’s now or never. Head to the forum to join the fray, and make sure to give the rules one last read through while you’re at it – because if you try to jump in at the last minute and happen to miss a detail you probably won’t have time to fix it. Nothing worse than spending all that time building only to miss out on a technicality right?
The clock is winding down and the entries are starting to pour in for Mech Madness 2012: Secret Crisis. Since the last reminder a week ago the field has more than doubled, as expected, and I’m sure there are more builders biding their time. Looking forward to all the last minute entries this coming week. Meanwhile, I have some exciting news for all the contestants: the supplementary prize packs are now declassified. In addition to the gift cards already announced Ace has lined up quite the haul for the victors. Here’s the full breakdown with shots of the loot he forwarded me:
- First place will receive a set of four Super Heroes Comic Con minifigures, one 6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle, one 6860 Batcave, and the $150 gift card for Lego Shop at Home.
- Second place will receive one 6868 Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout, one 6864 Batomobile chase, and the $100 gift card.
- Third place will receive one 6862 Superman vs Power Armor Lex, one 6858 Catwoman Cycle Chase, and the $50 gift card.
Not bad right? I’ll be posting another reminder towards the end of this week, but don’t forget the deadline is 11:59pm Pacific Time Saturday November 3rd, 2012 and as always will be strictly enforced. Your entry must be posted to the contest thread before that time and clear all the rules to qualify, so the sooner you submit it the better (just in case you missed something so you’ll have time to fix it).
That’s right folks, we’re already past the halfway point in our latest contest and it’s time to kick things up a gear. Right now we only have seven challengers in the pool, with a heavy leaning towards villains, but one look at the talk in the contest thread tells me these are just the tip of the iceberg. You guys really know how to throw down the gauntlet so I’m not really worried about the low early turnout. Again, the deadline is 11:59pm Pacific Time Saturday November 3rd, 2012 – giving you 20 days left to polish off your robots and submit them to the forum. Here’s what you late comers will be up against:
Every one of those blew me away when I saw it posted and I can’t wait to see what everyone else is working on. Ace is still keeping the remaining prizes under wraps (what can I say, the man loves suspense) but there’s already $300 in Lego Shop at Home Gift Cards on the line so I can’t imagine what he’s cooking up to sweeten the deal.
The past four days of Secret Crisis posts has laid down the foundation for this year’s building tournament. Secret Crisis is the setting and the motivation for Earth’s mightiest heroes and villains to compete for the ultimate power in the universe. Your job is to choose a side, pick a hero or villain, and build a mech consisting of an enclosed cockpit and at minimum two legs. The rest is up to you.
A little behind schedule with this final update but better late than never. The poll closed on Tuesday night and the top rated video, with a whopping 52% of the votes, is Egos Collide by zhouston:
Quite the landslide victory. He now gets to pick which of the super rare super hero minifigs he’d like from the pair provided by Lego. And the runner up, who will receive the other half of that duo, is The Sinister Two by minitrue11:
Really great work on these videos and the rest of the entries. Thanks again everyone for participating!
The time has come to screen the entries and pick your favorite, so head on over to the polling thread where you can watch them all and cast your vote. Winners will be announced in one week.
The deadline to enter the Super Hero Stop Motion Cinema Contest is approaching fast and to make everyone’s life a little easier, LEGO has updated their Super Heroes Movie Maker app (free download) with two key improvements. Now you can upload your masterpiece directly to YouTube. Also, got some takes you want to delete? Well now you can delete unwanted projects right from the gallery. And if you have a really long movie, like over a minute and a half or so, the app will now be able to compile the entire video. You can update the app directly on your iOS device or through iTunes.
There’s about one week left to enter and your chances are pretty good at walking away with one of the two most coveted promotional figures ever made. Good luck!
Thanks to zhouston for heads up.
Heads up: as of midnight tonight you have exactly two weeks left to enter our current contest. That’s still plenty of time to come up with a 30 second clip so if this is your first attempt at such a challenge there’s no need to worry. The prizes provided by Lego should be enough incentive to get your creative juices flowing. You do need the free LEGO Super Heroes Movie Maker app and an iOS device to run it of course, but the rules are pretty straight forward (you can read those right here). Good luck everyone, I’m looking forward to seeming your videos!
