Midnight tonight is the deadline and as usual it’s non-negotiable. If you’ve built a vig to compete be sure to submit it to this thread in the next 20 hours or you’ll be out of luck! Lots of great scenes so far. Looking forward to the last minute rush. Good luck everyone.
Just a brief heads up – This weekend marks the halfway point through the build phase of our recent contest. You still have two weeks left to come up with a scene if you want in, full rules are right here in the thread.
The poll closed last night and it’s easy to see how hard of a choice forum members faced, as all of these were only a few votes apart. Without further ado…
As the top winner he will receive Battle of Hoth game set, Planet Series 1 set, and three polybag ships. Our runners up will be receiving the same three polybags (MTT, Star Destroyer, and TIE):
Congratulations to all of our winners (You will be contacted by Ace after we’re back from Toy Fair) and once again thanks to everyone who built and voted. You guys are the ones who make these contests awesome and you never disappoint.
We’re now in to February which means the entries are in and the poll is up. Forum members will have seven days to cast their votes – you can pick three microfig scale models from the submissions below. Sign in and hit this thread to cast your votes, and thanks to everyone who joined in and built all of these great little ships!
Just a quick reminder – you only have a few days left to finish up those microfig scale ships for our current contest. The deadline is midnight (Pacific time) on Thursday night and the poll will be ready on Friday. You can read the full rules and view the current entries in this thread.
That Battle of Hoth game. Oh man, when I saw the microfigs that you get with the game I got really excited. I mean look at them:
Awesome! There is so much potential in building with a whole new scale. When I finally got my hands on the game what an utter disappointment those vehicles were. I mean look at this:
Not awesome! This thing is supposed to be a snowspeeder. And the microfigs are supposed to go where the two exposed studs are behind the trans-smoke cheese. They are basically glorified advent calendar models but far less accurate. I totally get that they’re supposed to be small and fit on the game “board” you build, but that doesn’t really satisfy my desire to see awesome ships built for microfigs. This is where you come in.
Imagine taking Emperor Palpatine’s much feared Shrink-O-Matic Ray, firing it at System scale LEGO Star Wars set and shrinking it down to fit a microfig in place of where a minifig would normally sit. That is your goal, to build that microfig scale vehicle, fighter, or capital ship. Now the term ‘scale’ is used rather loosely here. You can build an accurate model that would be on par with the Midi-scale Millenium Falcon, or go even smaller and more Chibi-like: it could be really small scale but with an enlarged cockpit. Just don’t take an existing set and throw your microfig in it and call it a day. People will know what you’re trying to do, point, laugh and ridicule you publicly and privately. Prizes? Well, the winner will get a copy of 3866 The Battle of Hoth board game for starters. It’s not available in the US due to a license Hasbro has that prevents LEGO from selling Star Wars board games in the US, but it is available to the rest of the world. So it could be a big deal to someone. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. More prize information as well as the complete set of rules are in the official contest thread. There will be five winners in all, so get building and good luck!
The polls are finally over and the results are in, and it looks like it pays to be bad. The Heroes put up a great fight but the Villains came out on top in the end. Here are the three winners as chosen by FBTB forum members:
We’ll be contacting those three about the prizes shortly, but I wanted to thank everyone who participated and once more congratulate all those builders who made it to the bracket stage. These contests wouldn’t mean anything if you all held back, and you always manage to impress me.
My apologies for the unexpected delay, but worry not. The final round is upon us and this time you will have until this Friday night to cast your votes. The polls got pretty close in the last round so I thought some extra time might be beneficial here. First up in the Winners Bracket we have Wolverine and Juggernaut squaring off:
(You can click on each image to go to their flickr page to browse more build photos). These two will be competing for first and second place, obviously. After that we have the Losers Bracket, with Hawkeye taking on Mr. Freeze:
These two will be battling for third place. As usual there is no prize for fourth place. So take your time, check out each mech again, then sign in to the forum and cast your votes!
After a brief delay while the forum update got sorted out we’re ready to move on to the final four. The top two heroes and villains have been selected. The winners of these two polls will go head to head to determine the winner, but that doesn’t mean the other two are eliminated just yet. They’ll go up against each other to fight for third place. You have three days to vote again so click here to pick you favorite remaining hero, and here for the villain you want to see them battle. The final round will go up on Friday night.
