2012 Podracer Challenge Winners!

It’s been a great contest with loads of fantastic entries and the final votes are in. The winner of this year’s Podrace Challenge is Sparkart with his Lady Liberty based Ghostbusters Chibi Pod Racer:

The idea behind this is just too clever if you ask me, and the build is right up there as well. A well deserved 1st place design.  The collectable minifigures turned out to be an excellent source of inspiration and made the voting especially hard for everyone. Click here to view the rest of the top five entries.

2012 Podracer Challenge: Voting in Progress

2012 Podracer Challenge

The preliminary poll just closed and the finalists have been selected, now they’re going head to head to determine the winners. Click here to go place your vote! I apologize for not linking to the first poll here on the main page, I assumed anyone intent on voting would have caught it on the forum over the weekend. I’ll be sure to keep that in mind for future contests.

2012 Podracer Challenge Deadline is Tonight!

2012 Podracer Challenge

Midnight, Pacific time to be exact. That leaves you with just over thirteen hours left to polish off that podracer of yours and post it to the forum thread if you want to participate. The turnout so far has been spectacular and members are really going all out with this theme. I can’t wait to see what the last minute entries will look like. Once all the submissions are in we’ll double check them for compliance and set up the poll, so voting should be ready the weekend. Good luck!

Announcing The 2012 Podracer Challenge Contest

2012 Podracer Challenge

The time has come for the years first contest on FBTB, and we’re going to jump right in with a reoccurring favorite: Podracers! We’ve bumped the build phase to February so everyone has the chance to send their entry in for a group display at LegoLand’s Star Wars Days event occurring at the end March. (Optional of course, and details on that will be posted later.)

The theme of this year is Collectible Minifigures. You are to select one minifigure from the six available waves as your pilot and build a themed pod that fits the character. With 96 different figures to chose from and plenty of directions to take with each, we hope to see some fantastic and creative entries.

Good luck to everyone!

PCH_101_podracing

Prizes will be awarded for three categories: funny, faithful, and fanciful. Head on over to check out the full rules. It’s open to anyone, not just PCHLUG members, and the prizes on the line are the new mini pod sets. Contest is open all February… the same time frame as our own Podracer contest by no coincidence.

A Totally Different Kind Of Batmobile

Batmobile: 2025!

Lino Martins is never afraid to push the envelope. For the latest LUGNuts challenge, Batmobile: 2025, his contribution is like no other Batmobile I’ve ever seen. Conceived as a COE, steeped in retro art deco, armored to the gills and badass front to back. I can just imagine what this would sound like roaring down the streets of Gotham.

Proudlove’s Batmobile

batmobile2025-2

When Flickr group LUGNuts announced its Build Challenge 51 – Batmobile: 2025, I knew we were in for a treat. As is usual the big guns are always late to the party, but they rarely disappoint. Nathan Proudlove recently contributed this pretty cool Batmobile. Be sure to check out Nathan’s photostream for more pics, including the lighting features.

Cole Blaq’s LEGO Speeder Bike Contest Midway Point

CMF_TraluCMF_DangeJessir[speeder bike]

The 3rd Annual LEGO Speeder Bike Contest over on Flickr has reached the midway point, but there’s still plenty of time to get your entries into one of the three great categories. Cole Blaq himself has been busy building a quartet of new bikes which simultaneously help to promote the contest and allow him to flex his creative muscles.
