We’re coming up on the deadline for our current contest, and you still have time to enter. Just be sure to sign in and post your alt model to this thread by 11:59PM PST tomorrow night. The thread will be locked at midnight and if you don’t have your ship ready in time you’ll be out of luck. I’m looking forward to those last minute entries!

Just giving everyone a heads up, you still have a week left to join in our latest contest. Full rules are right here in the submission thread and the deadline is 11:59PM PST on Saturday May 31st. Lots of great models so far but there’s plenty of room for more. Good luck!
It’s been a while sine we wrapped up our last contest and quite a bit longer since we had an alt model as a challenge, so we thought now sounds like a good time to address both. The goal here is simple: pick up either a 75042 Droid Gunship or 75046 Coruscant Police Gunship and using only parts from the set you’ve selected build a new ship or vehicle by the end of the month. Hit the jump for some specifics and to find out what prizes are in store.
LEGO’s own social site, ReBrick, is hosting an alternate model building competition titled “Be The Special” in the spirit of The LEGO Move. Just take any official LEGO set and build an alternate model. Submit your entry by 8:59am EST March 31, 2014, get the most number of votes, and you can win a “limited edition gold-colored Emmet statuette, not available in retail and only available though official LEGO competitions”. The other prizes for first include an exclusive LEGO Movie PR tin containing nine LEGO Minifigures and a LARGE LEGO Movie Set not yet officially revealed, signed by the designer. You can check out the “Be The Special” contest page for rules and more details on prize packages.
It’s finally over! The last polls ended a few hours ago and here are the final results:
In first place, pulling ahead with 82% of the final poll, BrickJunkie’s S-Wing “Sue Ann” piloted by Jud raynor:
Complete with rotating blades underneath. Awesome play feature that I’m sure helped sway more than a few voters.
Slithering into second, majortom’s Spirilium Stealth fighter with Hando Tanstarii:
A pretty wild design and one of the most interesting cockpits in the contest to boot.
I want to again thank everyone who participated for their hard work building all these crazy ships and trudging through the myriad of polls for the past two months. These contests would be nothing without your involvement and support, and you never fail to impress. Congratulations to the winners, and good luck to everyone in the next contest whenever I recover from the exhaustion this one brought on.
The time has come, two months of building and voting all culminating in the four ships above. Forum members now had forty eight hours to sign in and cast their judgement one more time. The winners will be announced Monday night after the polls close. Good luck to the four of you!
Just a friendly heads up, the deadline is fast approaching and the last two polls will be posted in about twenty hours. It’s been a fantastic run so far and the final ships are shaping up to be pretty interesting. Check back again tomorrow night for links to the polls. As usual you’ll have two days to vote. Looking forward to it!
We’re down to our last set of challenges in this year’s MOC Madness Tournament: the “Winners” and “Losers” brackets! Don’t let the name fool you though, there are no losers among these four builders. The last polls closed Friday night and the results are shown below, with one of the polls decided by a single vote. Talk about a close call. I’ve been in contact with the builders and have decided to extend this final deadline to next Saturday night, 8PM PST on January 4th, to ensure everyone has a fair shot at building and posting their final ships. Postponing deadlines is not something we do a lot around here, I honestly can’t remember a contest before this where we have, but the timing for such a gauntlet was pretty bad so the exception was in order.
The final four got their latest entries in with a day to spare (which is my excuse for not having a reminder post last night, I almost posted it before checking the threads and finding them ready to roll) but sticking to the schedule the polls were held until the deadline – which just passed a few minutes ago. Forum members have 48 hours to cast their votes again. This round will determine the final match-ups for the next round, which will then determine who gets the prizes and glory. Be sure to sign in and check out the builds before voting in the threads below.
Round four ended with the close of the polls last night, leaving us with the final lineup for rounds five and six. The opening half will decide the final match ups so it’s still up in the air. The next deadline is Wednesday December 25th at 87PM PST and with none of the advancing builders showing much concern for the Christmas day deadline we’re proceeding on schedule. Here are the winning ships that propelled them into the finals:
