Back To The Future Set Revealed

LEGO CUUSOO Back To The Future DeLorean

UK-based LEGO fansite Brick Fanatics gives us the first glimpse of the LEGO CUUSOO project, Back to the Future, from a LEGO store newsletter obtained in the store. After achieving the required 10,000 votes on LEGO CUUSOO over 6 months ago, the set is now a reality and according to the image, will be available for purchase starting July 18th. There doesn’t seem to be any minifigs included in the set as none are pictured. There IS a flux capacitor, however the model designers somehow managed to make an already terrible rendition of the DeLorean look even worse. I’ll reserve final judgment until I get my hands on the set but it’s not looking pretty.

The on-sale date happens to coincide with San Diego Comic Con which is happening July 17-21. Coincidence? We shall see.

Robin Polybag Promo @ TRU Canada

30166 Robin Polybag

The long unseen polybag listed as 30166 Robin and Redbird Cycle on Brickset has finally reared it’s ugly head, but only in Canada so far. I say ugly because you can only get it if you spend $30 on any Super Heroes sets. I prefer it when they will actually scan and I can just buy a couple as I did with Thor and the Bat-ski, but this time I had to resort to buying one of the Man of Steel sets I had no interest in and the 6865 Catcycle City Chase set to trade for the original Catwoman set I had already stashed away for my son. The lovely cashier was kind enough to give me an extra, but I can’t guarantee you’ll have the same results. It seems to helps if you’re extremely charming and good-looking though, in my personal experience.

Also, TRU Canada is having a Play Day tomorrow from 11am until 1pm, with the mini Jek-14 Stealth Fighter set that hit stateside for the May the 4th weekend along with a few other activities for the kids.
Good luck and have fun!

Official Teaser Trailer For The LEGO Movie (Insert Building Pun Here)

Update: Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the movie’s theatrical release date is set for February 7th, 2014.

I’ve been curious about how The LEGO Movie would be done since it was announced. I’ll admit that this caught me off guard… in a good way. Drink it in and let me know what you think. I need to go watch it again…

10234 Sydney Opera House Revealed

10234 Sydney Opera House

Unveiled moments ago at Brickworld in Chicago, LEGO has pulled the curtain back from their latest Shop@Home exclusive, 10234 Sydney Opera House. What’s interesting to me is that this set is being released as part of the Creator line and not the Architecture line for which there is already a small scale model of the same building. This set weighs in at 2,989 pieces and will set you back $319.99 US / $379.99 CA. 10234 Sydney Opera House is scheduled for release later this year in September, at the same time as 10236 Ewok Village. More images below, followed by the designer video, and then the official press release.

Life-sized LEGO X-wing Starfighter Lands at LEGOLAND California

551A5169

Today was the official first day that the life-sized X-wing Starfighter was revealed to the public in its new home at LEGOLAND California. I wasn’t able to attend the official ceremony ’cause stupid work got in the way but I was fortunate that forum member Mos Eisely was headed down there anyway. So I asked him to cover the even for me and here’s his report. There’s also a video followed by a copious amount of pictures of the model. It’s pretty impressive to say the least. I’m looking forward to seeing it in person this weekend.

We hope they’d wear them though.

Star Wars Weekend is happening at LEGOLAND California this weekend June 15-16, father’s day weekend.

LEGO Marvel Game Grand Central Station Cut Scenes

This popped up on YouTube a few months ago but I’m just now getting around to discovering it. The two and a half minute video shows some of the cut scenes used for the game. It prominently features Iron Man, The Hulk, Spider-Man, Sandman, and Abomination.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: The Video Game releases this fall on all current game systems. Pre-order your console version from Walmart.com to receive Iron Patriot, still the stupidest promo tie-in minifigure choice ever made.
