Save 20+% on 9496, 9499, 9500, 9516

Update 11:06am PST: Amazon has 9516 Jabba’s Palace marked down to $86.77.

Right now, Amazon has a pretty respectable discount on a handful of sets, all of at least 20%. If you caught 75005 Rancor Pit on the cheap last week, you can now pick up 9516 Jabba’s Palace for 23% off, $92.44.

Since 75020 Jabba’s Sail Barge has been confirmed for an fall release, you should pick up 9496 Desert Skiff and complete the the Tatooine scenes from Return of the Jedi. It’s still 32% off at $16.97.

The last two sets on sale are from Episode I and Expanded Universe. The Bongo Sub set, 9499 Gungan Sub, is discounted 21%, down to $55.03. 9500 Sith Fury-class Interceptor is also 21% off, down to $70.97.

And finally, even though it’s only 10% off, it’s still a good deal and was sold out during the holidays. Amazon has restocked on 10188 Death Star, charging you $358 even.

New LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Game Art

Wolverine

These images popped up over at ComicsAlliance. You have your usual Avengers crew as well as presumably playable characters of Spider-Man and Wolverine. The game is supposed to have over 100 characters to play as. Part of me wonders if some of those included in the “over 100″ cast are just different versions of the same character. Mohawk Storm? Sign me up! And seriously, they need to start selling these things as posters.

The game’s release date is set for October 31. No pre-order bonus announced just yet but you can be sure we’ll report it as soon as we hear something.

Spieletest Videos Presents Iron Man & Superman Sets

UPDATE: The video has been made private, little doubt through a request from LEGO.

I know people have been wondering what the Iron Man and Superman sets looked like at Toy Fair and I’ve tried to give details, but it’s difficult. I didn’t spend much time looking at them because of the photography embargo, so this video popping up is a definite help to all the curious fans. Spieletest posted this and another quick video featuring Iron Man sets on Toyark.com and another comment on the post indicates the Iron Man sets may be trickling out already. Taking another quick view, I can tell you that the smaller Black Zero Escape set had Zod emerging from the building/doorway and Lois Lane was in the escape pod/containment cell thing. The Smallville set, as I mentioned previously, focuses on the Kryptonian ship and it does have a number of nice parts. Take a look at the video and I think you’ll see why they chose to stick a bright yellow car in the smallest set as the theme seems to have a generally dark palette and seems pretty meh overall. The video also shows the new Kryptonian battle armour that I’m sure will be popular with the customizers out there.

So with this video, you’ve seen pretty much everything LEGO offered at the Toy Fairs. I’ll do up a post highlighting Hasbro’s contribution/dilution to the brick wars and I think that’ll wrap things up for this trip.

UCS X-wing 10240 Red Five X-wing Starfighter Officially Leaked

10240_IN_MA.indd

Internet Drama. It’s a thing. This is the time line of how the leak broke out as far as I can understand it:

– someone in taiwan.
– then hothbricks posts it
– then someone in eb posts it
– then someone posts it on fbtb
– then lego tells hothbricks to take it down
– but then hothbricks says you can see it here and there and everywhere on the internet at this point

So we waited for the official embargo lift time, which was 1pm PST, only to realize that somewhere along that time line, Jan Beyer of the official LEGO Community Team blog went ahead and posted pics of the model anyway. Pic was presumably taken at the LEGO World event earlier today.

Worst. Product launch. Ever.

ANYWAYS, the set will come out in May, will cost you $199.99 USD, and has 1,558 pieces. Here are the pics, and video, and the press release:

Forum member Darth Builder has been providing up-to-the-minute updates on 75005 Rancor Pit‘s price on Amazon, and it has finally sunk below $50. It is now listed at $48.98. It’s .58 cents more than our previous mention, and a great deal.

Star Wars Battle Of Hoth Die Keychain

When updating my lists over on Brickset yesterday, I saw this in the “New to the Database” section and my heart skipped a beat. There seems to be very little information on this polybag, but it may have been a promotional giveaway at the games launch in some areas. If you have any concrete info, sound off in the forum and know that my love of the LEGO Games and this one in particular means I am very interested to hear from you.

Which reminds me, I was so distacted I forgot to update my list…

Balin, Dwalin & Oin. Three Down, Ten To Go!

For more Hobbit related goodness, Pate-keetongu over on Cycloptic Bricks has begun building large scale Dwarves from the Hobbit and has three under his belt already. The detailing on Balin and Oin’s clothes is inspired and I really hope he finishes the company regardless of my opinion of the film.

Add in Iain Heath’s Bilbo & Gollum and the fan community is off to a fine start!

Legopard Takes The Hobbit “Into The Fire”

Out of the Frying-Pan into the Fire

I got behind on my posting while off to Toy Fair, but I’m going to try and get caught up this weekend. The first MOC I wanted to post not only because it very nicely captures the scene from the film, but because it points out what the official LEGO set 79002 Attack of the Wargs could have been. Legopard did a great job on the scene and you can bet I will reference it again when I post my review of that set in the next week.

Retiring Soon List Updated To Include Sungnyemun

21016 Sungnyemun

When I posted the announcement about the Sungnyemun back in may, I did not expect it to be on the retiring list so soon. This set just became available on June 1st last year which seems like a really short shelf life to me, but the nice thing about the new “retiring soon” page on Shop@Home is we’ll get a better idea on the life of some sets. If Sungnyemun was on your list of sets to get and you haven’t yet, I wouldn’t wait too long.
