SOMEWHERE in the deep reaches of space a mysterious object is hurtling through the stars. It emits a glow so bright its true form is obscured by its own radiance and appears as an orb of pure light. Even in the vast expanse of the cosmos it does not go unnoticed and its course is being watched from all directions.

Those of you who were waiting patiently to pre-order the latest Traveller’s Tale game, LEGO Lord of the Rings, in hopes of getting the Elrond minifigure as a pre-order bonus can now rest easy. Gamestop has finally put up the bonus on their pre-order pages for each console’s version of the game. The game is set to release on October 30th for all major consoles including the PC. Gamestop offers delivery by release date if you choose overnight shipping. You can also order online and pick up in store.
To help pay for the lawsuit brought upon them by that German luggage company, Disney is re-releasing The Avengers back into theaters for 1 week. Starting tomorrow Friday August 31, you can catch the team assembling once again on the big screen through September 7. The announcement came via their Facebook page but I picked up on it via FirstShowing.net.
Thanks go to Ken for the lawsuit joke.
Here’s one for the Boba Fettish file. Barry “hawk2009″ Johnson has posted these pictures of the Celebration VI exclusive set. I’d say this is a much nicer model than Maul’s Infiltrator, but I’m very biased when it comes to the Fett. It looks to me like there are a couple of parts I don’t think are otherwise available yet, but I could be wrong and if those dark green corners and dark red wedges are available feel free to post the BL catalog entry in the comments since you’ve got the free time
The LEGO Ferrari Shell promotion that launched in Hong Kong a few weeks ago has now made it’s way to Singapore Shell stations. Spend $50 on Shell gas, and you qualify to buy a set for just $5.95. No word yet on when this promotion will hit stateside, but you can bet I’ll report on it when it does.

If you missed out on the last time this set went on sale, now’s your chance to pick up arguably the best set of the summer release on the cheap. Amazon has 9500 Sith Fury-class Interceptor discounted 22% down to $70.25.
On a side note, September 15th marks the day Amazon will start charging sales tax to California residents unless a bill or two passes in Congress before then, which is not likely to happen. Even then, it would only delay the inevitable until January 13th but for now, let’s assume that September 15th is dooms day.
Just a reminder that registration opened yesterday for our FBTB parts draft of 8091 Republic Swamp Speeder.
You can see the inventory for this set on Bricklink.
If you are a member of the forum who registered anytime before yesterday you are eligible to participate. Find more information on the event here and sign up quickly! There are only 4 spots left as of this posting!
We’ve featured _Tiler‘s work here before with his amazing MINI-scale Tumblers and The Bat amongst other MOCs. This time, we’re featuring his MINI-scale Batpod. For me, it wasn’t until I saw the detail of the Star Wars Battle Droid head element used for the handlebars that really conveyed just how small of a scale this model is. He may have cheated a little by painting the element, but I’m sure even the most devout purists can agree that the alteration was worth it.
He also recreated the bomb truck from The Dark Knight Rises in MINI form:

For those of you who pre-ordered Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled (10-Disc Limited Edition Six-Movie Collector’s Set) [Blu-ray] from Amazon, there is a bit of news regarding its release. According to VideoETA, Disney pulled the listing due to a legal dispute regarding the design of the suitcase used to house the set. Amazon still has the page up but aren’t accepting any more preorders at this moment. It’s only a matter of time until the design of the case is changed or an agreement can be made but being this close to the release date though, I’m thinking the latter will most likely happen. Stay tuned here for updates.
The Avengers arrive on Blu-ray/DVD on September 25th, 2012.
Thanks to Morgan19 for the heads up.
Sorry, I couldn’t think of a better title than the cheesy one I put up for this post, but this Rivendell MOC is truly a masterpiece in size, scope, and detail. The MOC made its debut at Birmingham, AL’s Brickfair event and is a product of the collaboration between Blake Baer (Blake Baericks) and Jack Bittner (Bitts and Pieces). The duo was also responsible for last year’s Amon Hen scene. Someday, all of the great LOTR mocs will come together to form one giant movie scene… someday…
