New Logo, New Look Under Construction

FBTB New Logo

That right there is our new logo, and if I did things correctly, you should be seeing it along with a brand new header up top. The threat of a redesign is now a reality and this is just the beginning. I revealed the new look late last week in this thread and went into the reasoning behind the changes in detail.

Ideally, you’d be using the latest version of Firefox/Safari/Chrome for your web surfing needs. The header takes advantage of the latest bleeding edge technologies of HTML5 and CSS3, but if you’re still using an older browser, like Firefox 10, or something less capable, like any flavor of IE, you should still be able to see almost everything.

The search function in the header is disabled for now, but the one over there –> on the right should still be usable. I’ll be cleaning up quite a bit in the next few days so bear with us while we make the transition.

Nick and I (and when I say Nick and I, I mean mostly, Nick) have been debugging and troubleshooting a WordPress plugin, hence the reason you’re seeing so many test posts. We’ve nearly got it back to working order. I appreciate everyone’s patience during all this.

Comments? Questions? Like it? Hate it? I’d love to hear your feedback. You can drop us a line at our contact page or leave a comment on the forum thread.

Got an iPhone? Ever wish you could produce stop-motion videos with it? Well Warner Brothers Consumer Products/DC Entertainment has you covered with their new LEGO® DC Super Heroes Movie Maker app, available for free in the App Store. The above video is a preview of what can be possible but methinks the production value of it involved more than just an iPhone and the app. There is a tutorial video after the jump.

Official Announcement: 21013 Big Ben

21013 Big Ben

Update: We’ve received a better image of the Big Ben set sans box. Click through to visit the flickr page where you can view a hi-res version:

21013 Big Ben

You know, as Architecture sets go, this one doesn’t look too bad. The box shot seems to have traces of a watermark on it though. It’s priced at $29.99 / €29.99 and will be available starting June 1. Official press release below:

BILLUND, Denmark – Big Ben, one of the UK’s most recognizable buildings and a global symbol of Victorian London and the Gothic Revival style, has been recreated as the latest set in the LEGO® Architecture series.

Big Ben, officially known as the Clock Tower, has stood at the north-eastern corner of the Palace of Westminster in London for more than 150 years. It was designed by the unlikely team of Classical architect Charles Barry and Gothic Revival pioneer Augustus Pugin and completed in 1859.

Big Ben is the fourteenth model in the LEGO Architecture range, which uses the LEGO brick to interpret the designs of iconic architecture around the world. It is the first model to be designed by Rok Zgalin Kobe from Slovenia who joins Adam Reed-Tucker as a LEGO architect.

“The most challenging in creating this model was representing the richness of 19th century Gothic Revival architecture in a scale usually more appropriate for modern or contemporary architecture of smooth surfaces and clean lines,” said Rok Zgalin Kobe.

Charles Barry won the competition to build the new Palace of Westminster in January 1836. His initial designs were without the clock tower that would become known as Big Ben. As his own style was more Classical than the increasingly popular Gothic Revival, Barry asked for assistance from Augustus Pugin, a leading light of the movement that left its indelible mark on the Victorian era around the world. The design of the interior of the palace and the clock tower are thought to be his work.

LEGO Architecture products features well-known buildings, and the work of important architects Aimed at inspiring future architects, engineers and designers as well as architecture fans around the world, the range contains a booklet featuring step-by-step building instructions that is prefaced by exclusive, archival history, information and photographs of each iconic building, its design origin, its architect and its architectural features.

The LEGO 21013 Big Ben is available for purchase from June 1 in LEGO brand retail stores, LEGOLAND Stores and online at The product is designed for ages 12+ and includes a booklet with facts and history about Big Ben. Recommended retail price is $29.99 or €29.99.

Batboat Polybag Available @ TRU

Actually, I guess it’s a jetski. Which is silly, but it’s out there in the world as spotted on the TRU website and probably making its way into the wild as we speak. Keep your eyes peeled because this is sure to be the least expensive way to get a Batman figure or two and other than the classic blue and grey comics version, this Keaton-esque costume is probably the best suited for LEGO. Now, let’s see that awesome Batmobile poly hit the shelves!

Hoth Bricks Wants You To Like Them!

TC-14 Giveaway on Hoth Bricks!

Will over on Hoth Bricks has somehow managed to get his hands on a few of the “exclusive” TC-14 minifigures that the LEGO stores and S@H will be giving away the upcoming May the Fourth weekend with a $75 Star Wars purchase. If you head over and click like on the Hoth Bricks Facebook page and you’ll be entered into a draw for one of the three shiny baubles in the linked picture below. I’m not sure what contact Hoth Bricks has to secure some of these anticipated figs, but where there’s a Will there’s a way.

Go Podracer, Go!

The Boonta Eve Classic

Rod “2 Much Caffeine” Gillies is fighting to retain his Iron Builder title with this sweet little slice of the Mos Espa Grand Arena. A microscale vignette of the Boonta Eve Classic using battle droid torsos as podracer components seems like a perfect match to me. I can almost hear the sound of engines roaring and Greg Proops yammering on about something or other in the background.

EB Games Offers LEGO Batman 2 ‘Exclusive 5 Villains Character Pack’

EB Games Offers LEGO Batman 2 'Exclusive 5 Villains Character Pack'

The Australian EB Games site is blazing the trail again being the first to offer another bonus with the pre-order of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. In addition to the sweet power armour Lex Luthor figure you can also get a ’5 Villain Pack’ that includes Captain Cold, Gorilla Grodd, Black Adam, Black Manta and the fan favourite Bizzaro. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, this offer only applies to PS3 and Xbox users which is disappointing for the rest of us who may never get to play as some of these iconic villains. I have little doubt this will pop up for the the rest of us soon so keep your eyes out if you haven’t pre-order this already.

Marvel Sets Now Available at LEGOShop

With too much anticipation the new LEGO Marvel sets are now available at Not all of the sets are available as of this post, most notably the Spider-man set and action figures (we’ll update as they become available). But, I ask, who is going to rush over to LEGO Shop and order these right now? No one. You’d be a madman (or madwoman) if you did. Not when you can wait 5 weeks and get a free Hulk minifigure. You have patience, right? It’s not difficult when you know that patience will pay off, especially in the form of a tiny Hulk with purple pants.

Of course, for those lacking in willpower, want to get their hands on the new sets sooner rather than later, and want to pay shipping, click the links below.

Enter The Green Goblin

Xenomurphy keeps up with the swing of things in his latest super hero themed MOC as it appears that Sandman and the Lizard were just a warm up for the main event, Spider-man vs. Green Goblin. This scene is filled with some incredible details like the working fire escape, graffiti and that fantastic explosion. I encourage you to take a closer look on either Flickr or MOC pages and learn more about this latest creation in a series of amazing builds. I had to include the picture below, because I love seeing Spidey read his own comic book.
