I’m not a huge fan of the prequels, and I’m not afraid to say it. But there are a few diamonds in that rough and this is one of them. One of my favorite ships, the ARC-170. Martin’s version has far better scale and detail than the official LEGO model (which is already a fantastic set). From the brick-built markings to the astromech on top, this is a winner.

This Friday the Clone Wars sees Obi-Wan going deeper into danger
Fleeing across the galaxy with criminal fugitives, a disguised Obi-Wan, Cad Bane and Moralo Eval are tenaciously pursued by Anakin and Ahsoka, who have no idea they’re chasing their friend.
The preview video shows Cad Bane contemplating the Indiana Jones look!
Blogomatic3000‘s got a preview of London’s 2012 ToyFair, with the best looks yet at the Fellowship from Lord of the Rings as well as two of Marvel’s finest.
In my opinion, the Fellowship looks *perfect*. The weakest of the bunch is probably Boromir, but even he looks great. The hobbits looks especially amazing. Also, I can’t wait to HULK SMASH everyone with that awesome Hulk figure.
Thanks to forum member Blue Squadron for the hot tip!
Updated: Keep up with the latest happenings with Brickset‘s Huw as he tours ToyFair and uploads his photos. We’ll have our own coverage later today by our very own bigospedros. And remember, New York ToyFair 2012 is less than a month away! FBTB will bring you our annual coverage of this huge event.
When Flickr group LUGNuts announced its Build Challenge 51 – Batmobile: 2025, I knew we were in for a treat. As is usual the big guns are always late to the party, but they rarely disappoint. Nathan Proudlove recently contributed this pretty cool Batmobile. Be sure to check out Nathan’s photostream for more pics, including the lighting features.
Okay. First, let me apologize for my absence. I really have no excuse other than the break I took was needed and fully enjoyed even if the timing was not the best. And now the update: despite what the LEGO Santa Yoda site said for total donation, I think it was just under 700k the last time I checked, I’ve received word that LEGO has generously donated 1 million toys to Toys for Tots. Yes, 1 million toys. The cynic in me wants to see proof of this, since we only have their word to go on, but I don’t want to be that guy. I’ll trust what they tell me, and if they say that 1 million toys were donated, that means 1 million more kids enjoyed a LEGO filled holiday.
Looking back on our efforts, it’s pretty obvious our efforts to hit that magic number caught them off guard where they throttled submissions to the point that reaching the goal was rendered impossible. Still, it warms the cockles of my heart knowing that there were people out there just as impassioned as I was to see LEGO donate as many toys as possible.
I’ll be taking care of the drawing of the prizes in the next few days. I know it’s already a month behind the close of LEGO Santa Yoda (even though the site was taken down a few days ago), but I’ll catch up. Please stay tuned.
A crime has been committed and I’m here to rectify the situation. On Monday -2×4- presented his version of the iconic X-wing and it wasn’t posted. Then on Wednesday he re-shot it on a black background to really make it pop and it went unposted. Today he put up a picture of her with his custom Y-wing from 2010 and that was all I could stand, I can’t stands no more! Here they are in all their glory and my apologies to -2×4- for this taking so long. With all the great X’s & Y’s being built it’s a good thing LEGO is including some desirable minifigs in their latest versions, which I for one will probably still skip.
LEGO Shop@Home is offering to double your VIP point pleasure from now until the end of the month when you purchase one of the 3 Star Wars sets pictured above. I know some folks have started to wonder how much longer the 10188 Death Star will be around, so maybe this would be a good time to grab it up. I don’t imagine we’ll see any free shipping until at least Easter so it’s your call, though it does remind me that I still need pick up that V-wing (I only want it for the droid).
Toys R Us Canada has some select Star Wars LEGO sets on for a whopping 20% off right now including 7961 Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator, 7959 Geonosian Starfighter and the still horribly overpriced 10215 Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter. All the LEGO and other Star Wars books are also on for 20% off if you didn’t get your medal ceremony Luke & Han for the holidays. The only real bonus is you can get a free Star Wars LEGO buildable pen if you spend $35 or more on those and other select sets.
They’re also offering 25% off of all LEGO electronics and 50% off of some choice LEGO games. Time for me to go looking for that Boba Fett alarm clock.
This poster popped up on theonering.net yesterday, but I was waiting for confirmation from my LEGO contact before posting it. It didn’t look up to snuff so at first I thought it was a very well done fake, but now that I got the official PDF file, I realize I’m wrong. It’s just a badly done official poster. I guess I shouldn’t be too critical, but the left hand really bothers me as well as the hair/quiver/bow situation. Legolas had long hair but how they’re going to integrate a quiver pack remains to be seen.
