LEGO’s Comic Con Poster Details Padawan Menace Blu-ray Exclusive Minifig

LEGO Poster Giveaway

Given away at the LEGO booth was a folded up poster of all of the 2011 minifigs from LEGO Star Wars. On the bottom border, there’s a line about the TV Special, The Padawan Menace, airing on Cartoon Network. In the bottom right corner are details about the Blu-ray release set for September 16th of this year. And the most interesting thing about it? There is an exclusive minifig of a character from the show (he’s the one behind Yoda).

SDCC Exclusive 7958 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar

SDCC Exclusive 7958 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar - Packaging

Last post for the night.

This year’s Comic Con exclusive was far easier to get than last year’s as it did not involve any type of merry-go-round tactics; that’s reserved for the Green Lantern/Batman minifig promos. You could just walk right up to the counter to purchase them. Limit of 2 per person per transaction. If you wanted more, you had to go to the back of the line.

Anyways, for $50 bucks, not only do you get your hands on the Advent Calendar early, but you get an awesome LEGO Star Wars holiday print and exclusive packaging designed to look like a mailed package. There’s even a pull tab on the side flaps to simulate a Priority Mail shipping box. The shipping box has a lot of cool little details such as Santa Claus’s return address, LEGO Star Wars holiday themed stamps, an “open by” date, and ribbon graphic. There is a limited number of sets, 1,000, and they’re individually numbered. The kicker is that the print you get is numbered and matched to the set you get. Is the $20 premium worth it? I’d say so. The limited edition print alone is probably worth the extra cost. And you also get the sweet packaging design. I’m far more satisfied with this year’s exclusive than previous years’.

Marvel and DC Comics Constraction Sets

Batman Constraction - LEGO Super Heroes - DC Comics

As part of the Hero Factory line, LEGO will be releasing a series of Constraction sets based on a few key Marvel and DC Comics characters. On display at Comic Con were The Hulk and Iron Man from Marvel Comics, and Batman and Green Lantern from DC. No other info available at this time unless I missed something. Anyways, I’ll see what else I can dig up.

I was under the impression that the LEGO booth would have some of the actual DC Comics and/or Marvel Comics sets on display. Unfortunately, that was not the case. They did have what appeared to be near-final prototypes of DC Comics minifigs of Batman, Catwoman, Joker, Wonder Woman, and Poison Ivy. Marvel Comics minifigs were represented by Thor, Iron Man, Wolverine, The Hulk, and Captain America, but those were in various early prototype stages. I didn’t realize until I finally got back to my room and downloaded the images how they actually looked, so I’m going to try and take some better pics tomorrow. Until then, enjoy.

LEGO Super Heroes Line Includes Marvel

LEGO + Marvel

According to this article on StitchKingdom.com, the LEGO Super Heroes line will not only include the previously announced DC Comics license, but will also include Marvel Comics as well.

The first buildable characters in the LEGO SUPER HEROES collection are highlighted by Captain America, The Hulk and Iron Man. Select figures will be unveiled in the LEGO booth (#2829) during Comic-Con International at the San Diego Convention Center July 21-24.

My mind is officially blown.

FBTB will be there tonight snapping up as many pics as humanly possible. Keep your browsers dialed in right here for our complete coverage.

LEGO Super Heroes Contest; Superman, Green Lantern Revealed

LEGO Super Heros Unite

Thanks to flickr user Commdr_Neyo ☮, we now get a sneak preview of three of the upcoming DC Comics minifigs. Ol’ Batsy looks to be the same as previous incarnations. Superman’s hair piece looks fantastic, but I expected the blue on his torso and legs to be regular blue; it looks like a new shade. Green Lantern looks pretty awesome.

Anyways, the above image was taken from LEGOSuperHeroes.com where they’re running a contest. Create a stop-motion or live action LEGO movie, a still image, or even a drawing of your LEGO Super Heroes in action, or regular LEGO minifigs in Super Hero style. Prizes include a complete set of the 2012 DC Universe line up, trips to LEGOLAND CA, WB Studios and more. Check out the site for all the details on how to enter.

Thanks to Paul for the tip.
