October VIP Double Points

Just a reminder, the LEGO VIP Program is offering Double VIP Points on all purchases at a LEGO Store, through S@H or over the phone, starting tomorrow. Promotion runs October 1st-31st.

Now would be a good time to buy that expensive set you’ve been putting off. The UCS Imperial Shuttle, for example, can land you over 500 VIP points!

Be sure to check the forums to discuss your hauls.

Star Wars in 3D Coming 2012

Lucas wants more of your money. Lucasfilm announced yesterday that Star Wars will be getting the 3D treatment and is scheduled for release in 2012 starting with Episode I: The Phantom Menace. While I’m not particularly keen on seeing movies in 3D, I think the action sequences would actually lend itself quite well to the format. Like the idea? Hate it? Sound off in the discussion already brewing.

BN.com BOGO 50%

Barnes&Noble.com is currently having a BOGO 50% off sale on select LEGO items. Not all LEGO is included. So far, I’ve noticed that most of the Architecture series qualifies, as well as some Creator, some Games, Books (including the Brickmaster books), and other odds and ends. Do a search for “LEGO” and look for the “Kids Sale Buy 1 Get 1 50% off” graphic next to the item in your search results. WIth free shipping on orders over $25, you’re bound to find something worthwhile. Offer is good once per customer per billing address and expires at 11:59pm October 6 Pacific Time. Choose wisely and good luck.

Heads Up Rogue Squadron

Today is a blast from the N64 past, Bruceywan’s V-wing fighter:

v-wing fighter

The original V-wing was an airspeeder featured on Rogue Squadron 64. Bruceywan has done a great job creating this getting the shape perfectly. The attention to the dark gray ridge behind the cockpit is amazing, as well as the coloring of the whole ship. This brings back memories…

Toys’R’Us Sale on LEGO Star Wars, Finally

TRU Sale

Toys’R’Us is finally giving some sale love on LEGO Star Wars. Right now through October 2, you can get 20% off the following sets:

Deals are good in store and online. TRU online also offers free shipping on orders above $100. While the potential savings are reduced since TRU adds their own markup above MSRP, larger orders that take advantage of the free shipping will yield a bit more of a savings.

One more thing: TRU in store is offering a $10 gift card if you spend $50 or more on Star Wars, and a $5 gift card if you spend $30 or more, making the deal a little sweeter. The only exclusions are books and electronics, so LEGO should qualify.
