LEGO’s San Diego Comic Con 2010 Exclusive

Gooker1 from our forums reports that the latest issue of Toyfare magazine has revealed what LEGO’s San Diego Comic Con exclusive will be: a set of Cube Dudes designed by the father of the Cube Dude movement himself, Angus MacLane. The Dudes will be R2-D2, C-3PO, Obi-wan Kenobi, Yoda, and Captain Rex. The convention runs 4 days, 5 if you include preview night, so I’m guessing they will sell one Dude per day. Stay tuned for more info as I get it.

[UK] Boots 3 for 2 on all Lego

Boots, both online and instore, have “selected toys” in a 3 for 2 sale and fortunately, that includes all of their stocks of Lego!

Some sets are sold out (Toy Story sets for example) but they do seem to have quite a lot left, so if you wanted 3 Battle of Endor (8038) sets, for example, but only wanted to spend £150, now’s your chance!

Click here to see what they have in stock.

NB : I don’t believe this sale is in place of the 3 for 2 they usually have in September.  That is a sale on all gifts, in the run up to Christmas.  You’ll most likely be able to get the summer wave of sets on sale then!  This sale doesn’t include any summer wave sets.

Summer Sets Spotted In The Wild

Various reports are coming in that the August wave of LEGO Star Wars sets are starting to appear at Toys’R'Us stores. Below is a list of the MSRPs so keep in mind these prices when shopping, as TRU may and most likely will add their infamous markup:

  • 8098 Clone Turbo Tank: $119.99
  • 8097 Slave I: $79.99
  • 8096 Emperor Palpatine’s Shuttle: $59.99
  • 8095 General Grievous Starfighter: $49.99
  • 8093 Plo Koon’s Starfighter: $24.99
  • 8089 Hoth Wampa Cave: $39.99

The 8129 AT-AT Walkericon set is a TRU exclusive and their price is $109.99.

Target and Walmart stores are also clearing out some older stock, presumably to make room for the new wave, so you can probably score some nice discounts on stuff like the Pirate Tank, Venator, and other various sets. Happy Hunting!

[UK] 2010 Summer Wave of Star Wars sets appearing at TRU

I visited my local TRU store (Portsmouth) at the weekend and saw a box of Hoth Wampa Cave sets just waiting to be put out.  Others are reporting more of the sets as available too, including (with reported prices) :

8096 Palpatine’s Shuttle – £59.99
8089 Hoth Wampa Cave – £34.99
8097 Slave I – £79.99
8129 AT-AT – £99.99

The AT-AT is the only one that has appeared on the TRU website.

More news on UK availability as and when we get it.

*edit 13/7*

The Wampa Cave and Slave I are now also available on the TRU website.

Pellaeon’s BTAS Batmobile

Batman: The Animated Series is probably the best animated series of all time and probably one of the best depictions of the Batman universe, like, ever. I fell in love with its art deco influences, especially the Batmobile, rendered pretty successfully here by Pellaeon:

Unsier’s Slave I

Some people are never satisfied with their MOCs. Take Unsier, for example, he was so disgusted with his previous 8 versions of his Slave I that he decided to give it a 9th try:

Another TRU BOGO 50% Sale, Coupon Required

TRU BOGO Coupon

This week, July 11 through 17, Toys’R'Us brick’n'mortar stores are having another Buy One Get One 50% off sale on all LEGO except LEGO Star Wars. Of course. I mean, why would they put LEGO’s best selling theme on sale? It must have that negative effect I keep hearing about, you know, the effect of attracting more customers through their doors. The silver lining is that the coupon does work on LEGO Toy Story and every other theme and there is no mention of a restriction on Mindstorms. Anyways, printable PDF coupon is here.

You know what really sucks? They are also putting on sale all Star Wars Buy One Get One 50% off. The catch? Only applies to Hasbro products. Le sigh.

Entertainment Earth MINI Jedi Starfighter Free with $30 Purchase

Hey guys! I’ve recently become a contributing editor and will be reporting US sales and promotions. Here’s my first report!

Entertainment Earth is having a promotion where you can get a free 6966 MINI Jedi Starfighter with any LEGO purchase of $30 or more.

This promotion lasts through August 6, 2010 or while supplies last. It doesn’t apply to pre-order items, so you can’t use this to order the upcoming Clone Turbo Tank, Slave 1, or other August Star Wars sets, and can’t be combined with other offers. Honestly it’s not that exciting, but if you’re making an order anyway, maybe it’s worth throwing a LEGO set or two in your cart to get a nifty little JSF.

Thanks to Tyson for the heads up.

10195 + 8098 = Awesome!

Still not convinced the underrated 10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walkericon is worth getting?
