New Poll Of A Different Topic

I guess a lot of you think the Speeder Bike‘s the way to cruise around town. Surprisingly though, the Landspeeder came in second edging out the Swoop Bike. Here are the complete results:

  • Speeder Bike – 544
  • Swoop Bike – 192
  • Landspeeder – 268
  • Sith Speeder – 183
  • Pod Racer – 108

I’ve put a new poll of a different topic. This one asks which is your preferred handheld gaming system of choice. I, myself, used to have a PSP, but it was lacking in quality games (although the idea of having a portable Street Fighter Alpha is quite intriguing). I sold it though and picked up a Nintendo DS (or two). All that stuff that Nintendo talked about, about the stylus and the dual screens offering different kinds of game play and how it’ll open up new possibilities. It’s all true. 16million+ users can’t all be wrong. It made me a believer. And when you listen to the philosophy behind their design approach and the view on the what video games should be, it all sounds so inviting, and promising in a way. Probably because they are the only video game company that I know of that is straying from the beaten path. I look forward to the Wii.

BrickJournal #4 Out

BrickJournal 4: The LCAD Issue hit the virtual newsstands today. You can download it by following the links in this LUGNET post. Inside the article- and picture-packed issue, you’ll find an interview with Jonathan Smith of LEGO Star Wars II: The Video Game fame, and a how-to article about minifig decal customization by our very own Jared “Kaminoan” Burks. As always, great stuff to read.

It was reported earlier this week through various news channels that LEGO is cutting up to 1,200 jobs worldwide in order to reduce operating expenses.

‘Tis a sad day indeed.

New Poll Today

While you’re browsing amongst the excellent entries in the vignette contest, take a gander to the right and you’ll see a new poll. I can’t remember if I asked this question recently, and if I have, forgive the apparent lapse in memory. If not, cast your vote on which of the 6 Star Wars movies you liked best.

I really hope LEGO took note of the last poll. Out of 2,309 votes compiled, only 288 favored stickers for one reason or another. That’s about 12%. The other 88% clamored for more printed elements.

Vignette Contest Update

I’ve compiled all the qualified submissions for the vignette contest which you can view in the flickr set. I’ll open up the voting booth either late tonight or early tomorrow. Which one will get your vote? Is it the whimsical trench scene by bwu? Maybe romance is your thing (by Kaminoan)? How about something tense like Andi’s Death Star Trash Compactor vignette or RebelRock’s vignette that I like to call ‘Sealed Fate’? There’s a ton of great entries in there, more than 50! Be sure to browse through them all.
